Republican Senator Chuck Grassley, who serves as the Senate Pro Tempore, has filed for reelection at the age of 93.
Should he win reelection in 2028, Grassley would be 101 by the end of his next term.

From his cold, dead fingers.
He isn’t going to have long to enjoy his pension.
I thought this was his death notice.
Looks like he’s gonna pull a Turtle.
If the Republican Party maintains control of both the House and the Senate after the mid-terms, I hope that term limits will be a major initiative of the new Congress.
Both parties need a thorough cleansing.
Aim for the top, Chuck!
Grassley-McConnell 2028 & 2032!
These guys rarely leave upright and above room temperature. (Unless in the rare instance of losing a primary election.)
If a sex scandal doesn’t bring him down.
Constitutional amendment? Impossible.
Mandatory retirement at 65. Sick of this crap. Congress is a fancy assisted living facility with perks.
A sex scandal at 93 would elevate him in more ways the one!
Chuck Grassley, NOBODY is ever going to equal the longevity and period of time in office that Strom Thurmond achieved. It is soon to become practically impossible for anyone to challenge this combined record, and though others have served more years in the elected position (Robert Byrd, Daniel Inouye, and Patrick Leahy), those gentlemen all started much earlier in life.
This nation should find and run MAGA candidates in BOTH parties’ primaries.
Until then we’re fighting half a battle.
That’s too young for an age limit on office holders. When I hit 65 I continued a full-time work pace for another 10 years, and don’t consider myself to be an outlier.
If the Republicans maintain control of the Senate, I believe he would be third in line for the presidency behind JD and Mike Johnson. President pro tem of the Senate, the longest serving member of the majority party. I think he’s got McConnell beat by a few years.

That would take a constitutional amendment. It’s doable, but only if the current members of Congress are exempt. Otherwise, they certainly would not cooperate.
There is precedence for this. The 22nd Amendment limits the president to two terms. But the president at the time (Harry Truman) was exempt. He could have run for a third term had he wished.
I do not expect Grassley to run. My guess is that he has filed as a placeholder in order to fend off other candidates until he decides whom to endorse.
I am at age 86.5 years. I am doing exercise classes at YMCA 3 times every week, mowing my large lawn with a push mower, do all plumbing and electrical repairs in the 1600 SF house, working my own software to handle my finances and investments,
playing chess and bridge on internet. No fevers or hospitalization since 1990 when I had gall bladder surgery.
Senator Grassley is fine at age 93 based on my own life.
Please. Iowa Republicans, let Grassley know he cannot run. If necessary, work with him on potential candidates.
I hope you are correct.
