Again and again, throughout his long political career, Ken Paxton has gotten himself into trouble. Each time, his wife, Angela, has come to his defense.
In 2022, a process server trying to deliver a subpoena to Mr. Paxton, the Republican attorney general of Texas, said he watched Ms. Paxton drive him away from their home in a truck.
The next year, during Mr. Paxton’s impeachment trial, which aired multiple allegations of corruption and an extramarital affair, Ms. Paxton, a Republican state senator, sat stoically through the entire proceedings, which she later dismissed in a social media post as “all of this foolishness.”
And now, in the homestretch of the 2026 campaign, with polls showing Mr. Paxton trailing the Democrat James Talarico in the U.S. Senate race, Ms. Paxton is urging voters in a new television ad to back the entire Republican ticket — even as she is divorcing her husband and accusing him of adultery.
It is not just Mr. Paxton’s political future at stake. It is also her own.
Ms. Paxton, 63, has tried to build a political identity separate from her polarizing and scandal-plagued husband in Texas, staking out ground in policy debates over artificial intelligence, campaign finance reform, and social issues like abortion. Allies envision her running for statewide office in the future — regardless of whether Mr. Paxton is serving in Washington.
The new ad — in which Ms. Paxton never mentions his name — is a new and surreal chapter in the long-running saga of one of the most powerful attorneys general in the country. The decision to deploy Mr. Paxton’s soon-to-be ex-wife in this reliably red state reveals how precarious the Texas race has become for Republicans, as they fight to maintain control of the Senate.

It’s not that shocking. Not every woman is a B*tc* just because she was cheated on.
And not every divorce has to be pure hatred.
And not every divorce has to be pure hatred.
Trump is Exhibit A for that.
My divorce is too. My ex and I get along way better now than when we were married.
They have four children together. He had an affair but that does not mean she does not still have feelings for him. Or, take her at her word, and she is doing it because she does not want to hand the Senate over to the Democrats. Regardless, the NY Slimes is laughably ill-suited to be judgmental about personal relationships. Although I suppose that in New York a wronged ex-wife who is not bitterly vindictive is unusual.
Typical NYT. Stir the pot.
This isn’t news.
Because Talerico is an effeminate loon?
Angela Paxton is a Christian. Something the New York Times could never understand.
“with polls showing Mr. Paxton trailing the Democrat James Talarico”
What polls? San Antonio or Austin only. I don’t know anyone who has been polled. They darn sure aren’t polling out of the big city. In towns you see a few Tallywacker signs in yards but no Paxton, that is because conservative don’t advertise so they can be targeted. No signs, no bumper stickers etc... can’t afform to fix slashed tired and broken windows...
She seems a truly decent woman.
I would like for them to reconcile.
What is wrong with Ken?
I’m concerned as I have Republican friends in Texas who express hatred for Paxton. Baffles me why he is so polarizing.
This is the reality in 2026. Anyone who puts up a sign or bumper sticker is leading with their face, just waiting for a bloody nose. The political left is unhinged, and they know there will be no retribution for their violent actions.
“”It is not just Mr. Paxton’s political future at stake. It is also her own.””

And there it is. The reveal. The purpose behind this New York Slimes hit piece. To convince voters that the ONLY reason why Paxton’s ex is pushing the GOP ticket, despite the divorce, is to secure her OWN career. It couldn’t possibly be that that is what is best for voters, in the long run. Noooo.. it obviously has to be due to self-interest. Leftists projecting again and as usual.
NYSlimes running true to form.
As with a lot of people (I wont say just women), their public face can be a lot different than what it is like to have to deal with them in the private world.
Try again.
Paxton’s down across the board (by small margins) in every single poll, including the usually reliable Trafalgar and Rasmussen ones.

Texas State Senator Angela Paxton—estranged wife of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton—
is decidedly pro-life and has a documented anti-abortion legislative record.
• Sponsor of the Human Life Protection Act: She authored and sponsored the Texas “Human Life Protection Act” (Senate Bill 391 / House Bill 1280), which was designed to trigger an immediate,
near-total ban on abortion in Texas following the overturning of Roe v. Wade.
• Pro-Life Group Recognition:
Organizations such as the Texas Alliance for Life and Texas Right to Life have formally praised her as a pro-life lawmaker for her legislative work.
• Student Legislation: She has also authored bills aimed at supporting pregnant and parenting college students to encourage them to choose full-term pregnancies.
! Because we can’t have that Talerico freak! Horrible!
You believe that politicians (which Mrs. Paxton is) don’t make decisions based on politics?? How charmingly innocent of you.
Calling that loon a loon is being unfair to loons.

People fall ‘out’ of love all the time for various reasons. Ever heard of a no-fault divorce? This is not exactly an era where people feel that they have to stay in a marriage when the love is gone. And despite the tabloids’ scoop on the ‘why’, nobody really knows what happened with the Paxton’s marriage failure. It could actually be her fault... or nobody’s fault. Both are in politics and both have led busy lives away from each other. It happens.
