The American presenter Tucker Carlson has claimed Britain would have been better off losing the Second World War to an incredulous Jacob Rees-Mogg – but says he is not a Nazi supporter.
The US commentator was widely mocked after his most recent episode of the Tucker Carlson show, featuring former Tory minister Mr Rees-Mogg, aired last night.
In the online show, Mr Carlson claimed Britain 'destroyed their empire and their country fighting this war that they still pretend was a good idea but it wasn't'.
The former Fox News presenter – who once described Darryl Cooper, a Holocaust denier, as 'the best and most popular historian in the United States' – asked Mr Rees-Mogg if the UK had benefited from fighting the Second World War.
He then asked if Britain was 'a better country than it was' after winning the war.
Mr Rees-Mogg replied that the Second World War represented 'the classic good versus evil' war and said that 'we did the right thing'.
He said Britain was a better country 'to have defeated Hitler' and that 'otherwise we'd be speaking German'.
Mr Carlson then said that there are a 'lot of people' who are unable to speak English in Britain, arguing it would 'at least be nice' to have a 'European language' spoken in the UK if Germany had won the war.

Who is paying Tucker to spout this nonsense?! Or has he just lost it?!
Tucker needs to move to france. He would fit in there well.
Without American support—UK would have lost—Mosbey and his fascists would have been set up in the UK and a new—pro-German King set -up. US would have signed a treaty with Hitler and seized Canada. The world would be a very different place.
There’s a big difference between Britain ‘losing’ to the Germans, and simply refusing to fight them, and staying neutral.
Hitler would have been perfectly fine with a neutral Britain, and leaving the British Empire alone, if they just let him have free reign in the East.
Hitler launched Barbarossa, on the theory that Britain had been effectively neutralized, and no longer a threat.
What he forgot was that after Pearl Harbor, Britain became the world’s largest Aircraft Carrier for the American forces.
Yes. It’s a good thing that the good guys won WW2 because now their descendants can pay taxes to fund a government that is ethnically replacing them.
Tucker seems to think that history can be argued with, rearranged, and revised to suit one’s preferences. Such “if only” reasoning is a mark of folly.
After the war, Britain choose socialism which has wrecked the country.
Britain entered WW2 to defend Poland
They entered WW2 to punish Germany for invading Poland, they didn’t defend Poland at all.
An argument can be made that the world would have been better off had Germany won WW1. But Auschwitz and the Einsatzgruppen negate any such argument regarding WW2.
If Germany won WWI, then there would have been no Hitler. And no Bolsheviks. I say Britain and Germany should have been allies since German Reunification in 1871. Screw the French.

If only a single one of the 42 of the attempts on Hitler‘s life had succeeded (we can always dream, can’t we?) the loss of Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe to communism might well not have happened.
There was a plot in place in 1938 by the Generals to take out Hitler, that very well could have succeeded.
Then came Munich, and the Generals fell in line, thinking Hitler was a “genius”.
Carlson has gone insane apparently!
This cat is nutz.
How did he fly under the radar so long???
After the war, Britain choose socialism which has wrecked the country.
And by the time they returned Churchill to 10 Downing Street in 1950, the damage was already done.
“What if Britain didn’t declare war on Germany?
Would they even been at war?”
—————
Did Norway or Denmark declare war on Germany? How about the Benelux countries? Poland? Yugoslavia? Greece? The USSR?
NONE of them did, yet ALL were invaded. Your point is what, exactly?

Not really, but they knew that a plot would have had no more chance to break the tyranny, as Hitler had become so much more popular at the moment.
Furthermore, the most dreadful misdeeds of the regime were still to come. Sadly, no-one did foresee was Hitler was going to do. Mein Kampf was sold much, bud too little actually read it…
That was one of forty-two acts on his evil life, the first had bewn as early as 1931…
Gentlemen,
I’m afraid of playing the devil‘s advocate for once, but in my opinion, that deluge of third world immigrants into the West was something which couldn’t have been foreseen in 1945.
Then, there was no real sign of it. Take the USA: yes, the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 and the Oriental Exclusion Act of 1924 were, bit by bit, rescinded in the 1940s and in 1952, but still the numbers actually admitted into the US were very small.
If you ask me, it was mainly the population explosion in the third world which drove the massive emigration of third worlders to the West. But much too liberal immigration laws, a thirst for cheap labor and - later, particularly after the 1970 - especially the principle of „non-refoulement“ of refugees, which the UN had enshrined in its principles in 1951.
Yes, I believe that Hitlerism then and the Great Replacement of our times are two different heads of the Hydra of Evil, and not directly connected.
The Immigration Act of 1924, pretty much cut off immigration from Asian countries, namely Japan.
The Japanese were angry about this. Up to this point, Japanese-American relations were still pretty good, but the anger over the 1924 Immigration Act started the downturn in US-Japanese Relations that ultimately led to Pearl Harbor.
Something happened to TC brain...he’s so ooo off! On everything
