President Donald Trump on Saturday reiterated his pledge to give every adult U.S. citizen $5,000 if Republicans retain control of both chambers of Congress in next month's midterm elections, while warning of an economic "disaster" if Democrats win.
"Our country is doing so well under Republican leadership that only I can make you this promise," Trump said in a video posted on Truth Social. "If Republicans win the House of Representatives and the Senate, I'm going to give all adult citizens in the United States of America $5,000."
"But Democrat policies won't allow this to happen," Trump said. "In fact, the opposite is going to take place. They're going to raise your taxes, and they're going to destroy our country and certainly destroy our economy."
Trump predicted severe economic consequences if Democrats take control of Congress, invoking the stock market crash that preceded the Great Depression.
"It'll be a 1929 disaster if they get in," Trump said. "So, if the Democrats win, you will have an economic depression, much like 1929."

First of all, let’s talk about this so called dividend. THERE IS NO US federal “dividend”. The federal government has no surplus profit. It has a yearly $1.8 trillion dollar deficit and this handout would nearly double our yearly federal deficit.
For someone who’s made (and lost) fortunes, Trump should know what a dividend is. I’m sure he knows, but thinking most Americans are too stupid to know, he figures he can get away with the lie.

Mr. Trump: Give us $5,000 via reduced prices by winning or otherwise ending your Iran War, not by borrowing to fund handouts. The Fed just raised interest rates to slow the economy and inflation down. We need peace, massive cuts in fraud and waste, a turn away from socialism, etc., not a printing press socialist handout.
My grandfather used to spit nails every time I would bring up John Wayne, a favorite actor of mine when I was a child. He’d launch into the tirade that John Wayne was a horrible person for accepting government payments for not growing potatoes.
