After posting an explicit warning that MAGA supporters, conservatives and apolitical applicants need not apply, a New York City kitten rescue is defending its screening process against mounting criticism, including from PETA, which called on the group to scrap the ideological ban.
"Homeless animals don’t care which side of abortion you are on or whether you believe in global warming or support Palestine or Israel or if you don’t vote at all, ever. They care if you love them and will give them a good home," PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk told Fox News Digital.
"We hope this policy, which is humancentric, is reconsidered and abolished."

In a social media post reviewed by Fox News Digital, the rescue laid out a series of political positions it said could disqualify prospective adopters.
"MAGA? Nope."
"Conservative? Nope."
"‘I’m not political’? Nice loophole. Still nope."

On Sept. 10, Itty Bitty City Kitties posted an image of a kitten carrying the words, "Kittens. Don’t. Mourn. Nazis."
"For absolutely no reason at all on this day one year later..." text on the image stated.
"Just a little kitten making sure we all know where we stand," the accompanying caption read, followed by hashtags including "#kitten," "#cat," "#politics" and "#iykyk."
While the post did not name late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, it was published exactly one year after his assassination at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, 2025.

That’s crazy. Conservatives are more likely to be responsible, pet owners than some shiftless liberal.
I remember I went to take a cat from a kill shelter and they did not want to give me the cat because I said I would let it go outside if it wanted to
Some cats like to go outside some don’t you can usually tell by the way they behave. It depends on the cat.
Those with a strong prey Drive need to go out a little bit and kill chipmunks and stuff. It’s what they do. It makes them happy.
Something like a Himalayan cat probably is gonna want to lay around inside all the time, but you get a rangey tabby, Tom cat and he’s probably gonna wanna go outside and kill stuff or just prowl around. They come and go. I usually keep a window open for them.

You can almost certainly find certain cats who behave just like this - but that is not true of most non-feral cats.
An inspector from the Ministry of Education visits a primary school in Soviet Russia. He walks into a classroom and asks a young student, "Little Sasha, tell our guest how your family is doing."

Sasha replies simply, "Well, they finally opened their eyes."
Just adopted a sweet orange kitten last Saturday to go along with an orange female, black female and white tabby male. (sadly lost another orange kitty a few weeks ago to anemia). The rescue, like most rescues in our area, doesn’t give a hoot about political leanings. They just want to find good homes for the animals. BTW, all of my cats are conservative, even those who were fostered in liberal homes.

I have lived around cats as pets and feral living on a ranch for years. But consider that cats do what they want until they are stopped. And it won’t be anything other than it is what they want.

To Feel Safe and Protected - same reason
For Attention - cats love entertainment. You are it.
Cuddling is a kitten behavior that carries over into adult hood.
