After posting an explicit warning that MAGA supporters, conservatives and apolitical applicants need not apply, a New York City kitten rescue is defending its screening process against mounting criticism, including from PETA, which called on the group to scrap the ideological ban.
"Homeless animals don’t care which side of abortion you are on or whether you believe in global warming or support Palestine or Israel or if you don’t vote at all, ever. They care if you love them and will give them a good home," PETA founder Ingrid Newkirk told Fox News Digital.
"We hope this policy, which is humancentric, is reconsidered and abolished."

In a social media post reviewed by Fox News Digital, the rescue laid out a series of political positions it said could disqualify prospective adopters.
"MAGA? Nope."
"Conservative? Nope."
"‘I’m not political’? Nice loophole. Still nope."

On Sept. 10, Itty Bitty City Kitties posted an image of a kitten carrying the words, "Kittens. Don’t. Mourn. Nazis."
"For absolutely no reason at all on this day one year later..." text on the image stated.
"Just a little kitten making sure we all know where we stand," the accompanying caption read, followed by hashtags including "#kitten," "#cat," "#politics" and "#iykyk."
While the post did not name late conservative activist Charlie Kirk, it was published exactly one year after his assassination at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, 2025.

That's the explanation they try to give to media inquiries, yet this obviously contradicts them blanketly rejecting any and all "conservatives" and even those who are completely apolitical. "MAGA? Nope." "Conservative? Nope." "‘I’m not political’? Nice loophole. Still nope."

I’m fine with this for a kitten rescue as long as they don’t expand it to puppy rescue. I need a stable source of Dalmatian puppies for my wardrobe. Make Fashion Great Again.

Deeply so, yes. Their virtue signaling is an attempt, in vain, to conceal that fact. As fallen humans, we all have elements within us that motivate us towards evil. Better to accept that fact and face it on the spiritual battlefield than to pretend those elements don’t exist, or to try to convince others that we as an individual are uniquely unafflicted by them. Such attempts are delusional and counterproductive.

My son and I were eating at a Chinese Restaurant in Amsterdam when a huge cat came running out of the kitchen like a holy terror, right across the buffet table and out the front door. I no longer eat Chinese food when I travel.

And it is pride (or for modernist types - ego) which moves us to protect and justify our fallen nature.
