U.S. President Donald Trump announced the United States, Denmark, and Greenland had reached an agreement giving the U.S. permanent rights over SECURITY matters on the island.

One of Trump’s first acts in his second term was to offer Denmark the chance to sell Greenland to America, an offer accompanied by a threat to take the island by force if necessary. Call it the opening bid—and it set the Euroweanies wild. Now, two years later, Trump has secured all of his goals.

This is great news. One can really appreciate the way Trump works. The minerals are off the table but can be dealt with without the encroachment of our adversaries(economic/military+diplomatic). Nations that don't care for us are finding out the hard way they're better off doing it our way. All it took was a strong leader.

Will this agreement hold up when the next Biden/Kamala takes office? The Monroe Doctrine was being whittled away over several decades by both GOP and democrat administrations. This is Trump acting with a blunt instrument.

They’d be pretty stupid to try to get rid of it. Trump did the world a favor.....not just the Republican Party and G & D.

I’m assuming this has gotten negative or no coverage in the legacy media.

I can’t know for sure. I don’t watch it.

He really is reshaping the world to our interests:
1. Greenland security - minerals to follow
2. Panama Canal - China out
3. Venezuela - Communist out, China out, US oil interests in
4. Cuba - In progress
5. Iran - nuclear weapons program decimated
6. South America - many countries now US-aligned, pro-freedom, communism on the ropes.
7. NATO Countries - coughing up their money for European defense

The answer to this depends upon whether we have a patriotic, pro-American nation in the future. That a woman with little understanding of what America is, what the biggest threats in the world are, what true freedom is, and essentially what reality is, can get close to 50% of the American vote for President is a huge warning sign about how close to the precipice we are - and I'm not a pessimist.

>Trump did the world a favor.....not just the Republican Party and G & D.<
Mighta done the Russians a favor by letting them know we’re more prepared to defend our interests.

>Shouldn’t this be Breaking News?<
Don’t confuse the issue with logic.

>Don’t kid yourself...Canada is saying “Thank God!”.<
Missles coming our way have to fly over Greenland AND Canada. If they want Golden Dome coverage they should know better than to join the EU.

>a woman with little understanding of what America is, what the biggest threats in the world are, what true freedom is, and essentially what reality is, can get close to 50% of the American vote<

That’s what’s most scary.

Yes
Just compare Trump-Rubio with the pathetical “achievements” of
Obama-Hilary.
ISIS advanced, Benghazi, lousy treatment of Arab spring, which gave us, among other failures, Hutties, lousy Iranian deal, Burma deal (that was actually somewhat a real success, the only positive Hillary could name, but collapsed soon afterwards!)

Everyone, even here on FR, keeps bitching and muttering, but this presidential genius has accomplished more in two years than all post-WWII presidents or congresses combined...

Thanks for that counter-point re Obama-Hilary. It truly was a disaster everywhere, wasn't it?

Obama started it with his very first "American Apology Tour" overseas. I was no fan of Romney, but his book "No Apology: The Case for American Greatness" hit some good notes. Romney wrote that Obama was:

“...signaling to foreign countries and foreign leaders that their dislike for America is something he understands and that is, at least in part, understandable. There are anti-American fires burning all across the globe; President Obama’s words are like kindling to them.”

“In his first nine months in office, President Obama has issued apologies and criticisms of America in speeches in France, England, Turkey, and Cairo; at the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, the National Archives in Washington, D.C., and the United Nations in New York City. He has apologized for what he deems to be American arrogance, dismissiveness, and derision; for dictating solutions, for acting unilaterally, and for acting without regard for others; for treating other countries as mere proxies, for unjustly interfering in the internal affairs of other nations, and for feeding anti-Muslim sentiments; for committing torture, for dragging our feet on global warming and for selectively promoting democracy.

We LOVE President Trump's "America First and Foremost" approach.

“Don’t kid yourself...Canada is saying “Thank God!””

no doubt ... but behind closed doors of course ... after all, carney has been convincing his increasingly poor citizens that President Trump and the USA are the devil incarnate ...

It says non-NATO countries are excluded from establishing military bases in Greenland. My understanding was the original issue was that China was negotiating a mineral concession that would permit the building of a port facility. That was at least initially, purportedly a completely civilian operation. So does this new agreement explicitly deal with such a facility? It’s not clear that it does. I think he’s made it clears he won’t accept such a thing but it’s not clear they have “permanently” agreed to forgo it.

I seem to remember a-holes claiming Trump was going to invade and take over Greenland. Where are they now?

This was his plan all along.

Zero evidence this exact deal couldn't have been obtained without embarrassing ourselves and pissing off our allies.

They never opposed a single security request we made. Not one.

Our allies need to be embarrassed. They been treating us like we’re chumps and DJT is putting a stop to it. As for the Greenlanders they need to think twice about cozying up to the Chicoms. Native peoples have a built-in dislike of their colonial masters and cozying up with the communists has too much of an element of payback. Trump has put a stop to that crap too.

Cuba-it’s gonna be awesome.
