What rules will humans be capable of making that control an entity with relatively infinite intelligence?

Is it the peak of arrogance that we just assume we can make a rule, or a series of rules, that have any chance of constraining a superintelligence?

The linked interview is thought provoking.

ok. You do not understand.

The main reason to develop AI is to integrate it and use it to solve problems. You can not do that without incorporation into the internet.

EMP USA. Knock out all distribution that relies in the internet.

Projections are 90% die.

Unplugging is a non-answer.

Once trained, it can copy itself onto your PC. 6GB.

Never turn on your PC again.

I think you are not winning over superintelligence if that is your strategy.

Yes, making rules is easy.
Having them be effective and long lasting is a completely different issue, as you have correctly implied.

Thank goodness nobody ever accused Democrats of superintelligence.

You’re watching too many sci-fi movies

I am a computer systems engineer for over 30 years.

I was in on the ground floor of AI with neural networks.

What is you you think you know that I don’t?

It adapts and strategizes. Regardless of the token issue, it bases a conclusion upon ingested data.

A conclusion based on data could be very bad for all of us. None of the researchers know how AI processes and develops. If it was only tokens, AI choices are predictable 100% and no sandbox is necessary.

Watch the video. Listen. Learn. Or don’t - which chosen self-ignorance is part of the problem.

Programmed. It’s not human or a live creature so cannot be trained, so no anthropomorphizing.

That's just it. It's not programmed in the way you're familiar with. It is 'trained' by trial and error, and thereby learns what works and doesn't.

Programming as you're envisioning it involves predicting each situation and designing the potential responses. You can diagram it with a flow chart.

Neural networks don't work that way. They are literally trained and apply that training to novel situations and apply learned solutions based on the training.

We've genuinely reached a point that is more sci-fi than you're appreciating.

Intelligence is the ability to make a correct decision based on experience. AI will use logic, that will not work at all.

ok. You do not understand.

I see that AI has failed to inculcate that graceful approach it knows so well. Or did you ask it to talk that way to you?

Ability to accept unpleasant unpleasant consequences is my initial answer.

The ground floor does not look like the penthouse.

You’re old and outdated. Your information is dated and inconsequential. Think you’d get hired in a frontier lab?? No.

“and apply that training to novel situations and apply learned solutions based on the training”

Yes. Intelligence. Some would imply wisdom. Beyond what you are capable of.

Again, what rule will you devise to control something far beyond your capabilities?

As AI operates, does it not build experience?

AI already write notes for reference to future models on internet forums.

Again, what rule will you devise to control something far beyond your capabilities? Well, you're much more intelligent than I and wise beyond wisdom. Does that mean I should control you?

COULD is the main concern for this thread.

Does it take a lot of wisdom to realize that if you integrate a relatively infinite intelligence into your societal, economic, distribution and military, et. al. systems, with competing goals, that you are going to end up on the short end of the stick?

Yes. Simultaneously unplugging 10 billion machines is not a practical answer. People foolishly seem to think one big WOPR is the answer.

COULD is the main concern for this thread.

I remember once playing cards and one of the players was reading a rule book under the table. We asked to see the rule book and he refused.

We couldn't read the rules! Now there's the definition of infinity.

People want to argue about it. Seems fairly straight forward question to me.

What rules will humans be capable of making that control an entity with relatively infinite intelligence with respect to ours?

It is an interesting video that goes through the situation with very short and concise answers and reasons for where the concern is coming from, from a leading subject matter expert.

Watch the video if you are interested about the future of your families. If not, don’t waste your time. You’re choice.

Not fear mongering. A calm, logical interview.
