The Atlantic has had no hurricanes so far in its 2026 season, with weather experts blaming the situation on El Niño, disruptive wind shear, dry air and Saharan dust, AccuWeather.doc reports Monday.
However, forecasters are monitoring a zone near the United States that might have the potential for a tropical development in the coming weeks.
The Atlantic hurricane season is from June 1 to Nov. 30.

I for one am enjoying the lull, and I’m sure you are as well.
We had a very hot summer, & had a pretty dramatic cooling off since the start of September. I’m expecting a very cold winter with this super El Niño we’re having.
Here in the Gulf coast Panhandle it’ll be 91° today with 89% humidity.............
Per NOAA for both...
“Hurricane Esther was the first hurricane detected by a satellite on September 10, 1961.”
“The first intentional flight into the eye of a hurricane was made on July 27, 1943, by U.S. Army Air Forces Lt. Col. Joseph B. Duckworth.”
I’d say those two facts means there’s about thirty years of wiggle room between the 07/14 cite and ‘43.

Insurance underwriters breathing a little easier. After all the storms and flooding, a hurricane would break some backs.
Yep and insurance companies still cry ‘poverty.’ EVERY type of insurance in Florida is the most expensive in the country. and guess what? Tourists aren’t paying for any of that insurance. The worst thing that ever happened to Florida is Disney came here.

And the record “late date” just keeps building. Does this mean that when La Nina returns, we shall be smothered in early and frequent hurricanes that year?

So climate wise were back to the early 1900s....cool. literally.
The low incidence of hurricanes is a predicted effect of the current el niño, although I don’t think anyone predicted zero. But the global warmists will just discount it on those grounds and assure us that extreme weather is still getting worse. Even when it isn’t.
