Thank you very much and God bless you.

Etowah was an ancient Mississippian city that once thrived in what is now northwestern Georgia. From around 1000 CE until the arrival of the Spanish in the 1540s, Etowah grew into one of the most important centers of the Mississippian world, with thousands of people living around enormous earthen pyramids and a massive central plaza...

The story of Etowah also continues beyond its ancient history. Ed discusses the archaeological discoveries that helped reveal the city, the early excavations that took place at the site, and the ongoing efforts to understand and preserve its cultural heritage.

And toward the end, Ed takes a closer look at a surprising new discovery that could reveal just how far Etowah's connections reached.

Archaeologist Ed Barnhart examines the history, art, and daily life of the ancient Mississippian city ofEtowah. The discussion explores its architectural features, including earthen pyramids and defensive structures, while investigating the site's complex trade connections and recent scientific analyses regarding cultural practices and regional influences.

Just watched this episode. It’s interesting what he has to say about DNA evidence. It’s being used everywhere in archaeology and ultimately I think it’s use is a bit dubious.
Dr. Barnhardt is the best archaeologist out there today. He has a couple of awesome series on the Great Courses channel.

I’ve never seen that pose before in Pre-Columbian art that I can recall.

https://gastateparks.org/EtowahIndianMounds

South of Cartersville, between US 41 and the Cartersville airport, along the Etowah river.

If you are in the area, you might to want to drive about an hour north up US 411 to see how native Americans really lived by visiting the Chief Vann house. It’s east of Dalton.
