The crazed plane passenger who was duct-taped and zip-tied on a flight to New Jersey first flipped over a discussion about religion with his seatmate, a controversial Messianic rabbi who’s a best-selling author dubbed a “Doomsday prophet.”
Author Jonathan Cahn said that now-fired Arizona realtor Arthur Layne Lundeen, 67, allegedly started hurling racist and homophobic slurs after first screaming at him that “Jesus is bulls–t.”
“I was the unidentified passenger and I was actually attacked, 30,000 feet in the sky. I was attacked on that plane,” Cahn revealed in a YouTube video Monday.
“I have never seen someone change in a split second from light to dark as I saw then, as if something had taken him over,” Cahn said. “He went from the friendliest guy in the world to this dark person.”
Cahn leads the Beth Israel Worship Center in Wayne, New Jersey, part of the Messianic Jewish movement that believes Jesus is the messiah, making it generally considered a branch of Christianity.
He is also known for his controversial books, especially his debut 2011 novel, “The Harbinger,” which draws parallels between the 9/11 attacks and the destruction of the Kingdom of Israel, linking the events as a divine warning.
Another book, 2015’s “The Mystery of the Shemitah,” suggested a great global catastrophe was imminent, with the New York Times calling him a “Doomsday prophet.”
Cahn claimed it was the cover of his newest novel, “The Altar of Pergamon,” that “triggered” Lundeen after they had been chatting amiably on last Thursday’s Newark-bound American Airlines flight.
Cahn said he referenced “the reality of the real power of god on Earth and in our lives,” leaving Lundeen irate and “cursing Jesus” and “blaspheming Jesus and God.”
He claimed Lundeen then started saying, “It’s all bulls–t. Jesus is bulls–t.”

Nah, he’s controversial within the Christian community. I think his books are amusing nonsense.
I’m sure Jonathan Cahn doesn’t regret his discussion.

Yes indeed.... he was just doing what all Christians should be prepared to do...
Mark 16:15-16
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
2 Timothy 4:2
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season;
1 Peter 3:15. But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.
I’ve trained with GFH for some years, watched them grow since they built the facility in Woodland Park, NJ. These are the best possible persons to have on your flight if you can’t have air marshals. Maybe better. Best possible outcome.
>> I take exception to this article referring to Jonathan Cahn as “controversial”.
Hey, Peter wrote that we are a “peculiar people”. Sign me up!
Jonathan Cahn is very interesting. I have 4 of his books.
not as cool as looter dude
Sometimes good things happen to people who didn’t ask for it.
>“I have never seen someone change in a split second from light to dark as I saw then, as if something had taken him over,” Cahn said. “He went from the friendliest guy in the world to this dark person.”
Demonic possession?
I no longer discount it for episodes like this.
I have very difficult theological question: Who carries that much duct tape?
Great advice! I’ll be on an 11 hr flight to Tokyo next week, I’ll be sure to remember that! 😊
Read his books if you want to leaarn about his theology. He is a very knowledgeable guy.
Where art thou, ZC?
Right!?
I mean, I typically have several feet worth of duct tape wrapped around a pencil in my carry on backpack. Also a couple of HVAC duct straps - think large economy size zip ties about 4’ long.
But nothing like that much unless I can get to my garage or car trunk.
Freedom of Speech doesn’t include the ‘right’ to impose one’s belief on a captive audience, anymore than it means you can hurl racist or other insults on a plane.
would you have appreciated this person?:

Go right ahead......
Yes, but also shake the dust of their town off of oneself. Engage, speak truth, yes. If they reject, move on quickly. The Holy Spirit convinces them. Not me.
We are also taught to be able to ANSWER peoples questions, with gentleness and respect. Some just love to bombast the non-believer.(thinking that volume, and knowledge overcomes their unbelief)...without them being interested, or asking questions..
Not sure about this case, but DTM came off as unhinged.
Usually easier to just shoot them. ;-D
: )
Because he did what was right in the eyes of God.
I shall not.
