Here’s a little thought experiment…
Imagine a community spent nearly 50 years building up a popular local sports facility, poured millions of dollars into it, and watched generations of families use it. Then, because of a problem buried deep inside the legal paperwork, they were told to hand over the keys and walk away.
Now imagine people publicly celebrating that move simply because the people losing out were Aboriginal.
Unthinkable, right? The entire world would melt down.
But flip the races, and apparently some people get giddy and call it justice.
That’s the racist little cloud now hanging over a land fight on Sydney’s north shore.
The Northern Suburbs Tennis Association has operated the eight-court Talus Street Tennis Centre since the late 1970s. It’s a thriving place that sees more than 62,000 player visits a year. But the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council took ownership of the Crown land through a land claim and has now ordered the tennis operation to get the hell out.

One of Sydney’s longest-running community tennis centres has been ordered to vacate its north shore home after an Aboriginal land council secured ownership of the site, setting up a high-stakes dispute that has drawn involvement from sporting champions, politicians and prominent media figures. The Northern Suburbs Tennis Association (NSTA) will be required to hand over the keys to the eight-court Talus Street Tennis Centre at Naremburn by September 30 after receiving a formal eviction notice from the Metropolitan Local Aboriginal Land Council (MLALC), which took ownership of the Crown land reserve as part of a successful land claim in 2022.
The land dispute involves leases, rent, ownership, and a strange technical problem in the paperwork…
And then the media got involved, and all of a sudden, it wasn’t just a land dispute anymore. Now it was becoming something much uglier, with people cheering and celebrating because white people were losing something.
Here’s a scathing comment from a local.

The irony of an Aboriginal Land Council evicting a group of white upper-middle-class tennis players from their stolen lands has been worth living 73 years to see. Wow. “It’s not just about the social interaction.” Really? Now you might understand just a fraction of the pain that the first six generations of European Australians inflicted so casually and criminally on Indigenous Australians when stealing their lands. Suck it up, Northern Suburbs Tennis Association, and move on like you expected Indigenous Australians to do, and know this, as the census will reveal: the number of Indigenous Australians continues now to grow decade after decade, in their country. They are back.
Keep in mind, this club wasn’t some fly-by-night group. It was well-respected and beloved and had been there for nearly 50 years.
The tennis association spent at least $10 million building and maintaining the facility over the decades. They also spent $50K in the past three years.
The Sydney Morning Herald:
The prospect of losing the courts has alarmed club members, staff and residents, many of whom fear the community facility could be permanently lost.
Love’n Deuce executive director Paul Francis has established an advisory group including veteran broadcaster Ray Martin and former television presenter Steve Liebmann in an effort to negotiate a solution with the land council.
“People play here from age two to 82. I’ve got over 30 staff and their families, and some have been here 25 years. They’re already looking for other jobs, which breaks my heart,” Francis said.
“It’s not just about tennis. It’s about the social interaction. People have made lifetime friends here.”
So how does a busy, respected facility like this just end over an Aboriginal land claim?
That’s where the story gets really disturbing.
The original purpose of the land-rights law was to return Crown land that was unused. But these courts were actively being used and serving the community. Yet because of the way the law and paperwork played out, the white people who built their lives around this place are the ones being shown the door.
The Sydney Morning Herald:
The proposed legislation has faced strong opposition from Aboriginal organisations, including the NSW Aboriginal Land Council, which has argued the changes threaten to undermine established land rights. Willoughby MP Tim James, a patron of the tennis centre, has called for government intervention, arguing the community facility should not be lost.
“It doesn’t sit right with me that a community asset that has served generations of local families is being forced out of a site it’s occupied for more than 40 years,” he said.
As we mentioned earlier, the club was a thriving community facility with decades of history behind it, serving tens of thousands of visits every year. It shouldn’t have been targeted to begin with.
But instead of asking how a law meant to deal with “unused land” ended up swallowing a busy, popular, well-respected tennis club, some people looked at the situation and saw something to celebrate because the people losing out were white.
The legal fight over Talus Street will keep playing out, but the anti-white hate surrounding it is right there, for everyone to see.
A community could lose something it spent nearly half a century building, and some people are openly thrilled because they see it as some “historical payback.”
That’s racism at its ugliest.

This reminds me of Israel handing Gaza over to the “Palestinians” who proceeded to wreck the place.
I'll wager the answers are pretty much 'few to none' and 'nothing.'
Anyway, money is at the root of this land grab, a it usually is.

There's no money in raw dirt and scrub terrain.
What land did they own, just all of Australia, where did they come from, do the ones who stayed back and didn’t land in Australia still own all of that part of the world?
At what point was everywhere on earth “owned” forever by some people, and how do roving bands and tribes fit into it all?
If they chose to continue to run the facility as a tennis and athletic center, I hope Australians boycott it into bankruptcy.
I know I would.
I don’t know anything about this particular issue but I do know that the British, in all their hubris and “superiority”, were unbelievably brutal to the aboriginal people in Australia and also the blacks in South Africa. One can argue that the indigent people were completely uneducated and culturally backward, and they were, but perhaps if the British hadn’t been so very brutal to them, we wouldn’t be seeing things like this. American slavery couldn’t hold a candle to what the British did. Having said that, I believe in forgiveness, instead of vengeance. Not sure if the British have ever asked for forgiveness, though. But then, it’s still best to forgive, since forgiveness brings healing to the soul of those who forgive.

I agree. More-a-less nothing to see here - other than I suppose winners/losers and the cheering for anything bad happening to white people.
Someone’s ox is going to get gored at some point in time. The response to it by those owning said gored Oxen, and the larger community, is telling (where all the anger and vitriol is pointed and why).
As I said in my original reply Atlas will shrug at some point, then we can all enjoy the mud hut utopia that all the collectivists seem to want for all (exempted will be the connected elite).
There is more to it than that, your post indicated that you thought so, don’t you think that civilization and order come into play, cavemen roam around some vast region of geography but at some point man advances and needs lines drawn and ownership to make a farm, or a mill to grind wheat, or agreed upon lines to end constant warfare or feuds, records to transfer a place after death, lines drawn well enough to allow for a fence to stop the pig rancher’s pigs from eating the farmer’s crops.
We are touring Germany and Austria for three weeks. The countless small fiefdoms along the Rhine were just like that. Castles built all over to protect your area from the fiefdom a few miles down the river.

Civilization makes improvements, and things get better.
Don’t they have any adverse possession law? Their investments need to count for something.
Unless you are a Methodist Church member who poured tithes into a church building fund but don’t wish to see LGBT pastors in the pulpit, that is. Split! You’re out.
