Multiple high-ranking team sources had recently told ESPN that they believed the 2026 season would likely be Engelbert's last. While Engelbert has ushered the WNBA into what she's called "hypergrowth" mode, transforming the league into a significantly more prominent sports and entertainment property, her leadership had come into question over the past year.

Caitlin Clark was largely the one that got all the eyeballs watching.

Who is she going to sponge off of now? Or is the NBA still responsible for her retirement?

The first thing a new commissioner needs to do is hire real referees.

While Engelbert has ushered the WNBA into what she's called "hypergrowth" mode, transforming the league into a significantly more prominent sports and entertainment property, Hardly. It's almost all due to Caitlin Clark.

Funny how ESPN, the NFL and NBA was Obama’s secret army to push his agenda.
Sounds like they added WNBA around the same time

They should put Caitlyn in the TOP Position of the WNBA but ALSO appoint/hire her a top notch EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT to handle daily routine stuff so that Caitlyn can still play. On big decisions, or any decision, Caitlyn rules.
The player lesbians and racists would hate it but it would be the best thing that could ever happen in WNBA. Caitlyn is super intelligent, super character and super fair without an ounce of racism in her body!

People kept asking her what the W was.

While Engelbert has ushered the WNBA into what she's called "hypergrowth" mode...Englebert did no such thing.
She resisted the market forces propelled by Caitlin Clark's debut.
