Parents who choose to homeschool their kids are probably smarter than average. That probably accounts for the vast majority of the difference.
As I was. I had four military members home schooling me ... dad a Marine pilot, uncle an Army helicopter pilot and two brothers who were also aviation pilots in the Army .... mom a military brat. LOL
Back when I started homeschooling (25+ years ago), I looked at several articles and research, that showed that parent educational level had no bearing on homeschooler outcomes.
Even back then it was known homeschoolers were outperforming public schoolers on standardized testing.
This is worth mentioning; I’m 50ish. Single male. I got a set of VR goggles (Meta Quest 3 w/BOBOVR headstrap) initially so that my nieces/nephews could play with them for education and harmless interactive games. I soon discovered the multiplayer VR tactical soldier game Forefront which takes 40-50 hours of gameplay just to get familiar with gear,vehicles,team objective,strategy...mindblowing stuff. Seriously. As you communicate by voice with “grunts” on your team you quickly realize that they are almost ALL prepubescent kids. These kids play this game like they’re 6-tour spec-ops soldiers from hell and you know darn well that these kids spend more time/focus/energy inside these games then probably anything else in their lives. I remember the video games of the 80’s-’90’s etc..but this “modern” immersive stuff is so “good” that its easy to see how it may very well qualify as some kind of addictive experience for highly impressionable kids and schoolwork (any work) will take a back seat. Anyway... rant/off

The writers were quick to get this qualifier inserted - something they never do with so-called “global warming.”
At the LEAST, however, this should put to rest the ‘pearl clutching’ that homeschooled kids won’t learn as well as they would in government schools.

CAUSE WE RULE yes homeschooling by committed parents is the way to go.
Not everyone can, for some good reasons. But those who can, should. We were broke and even went bankrupt once but by God’s grace all five of mine I homeschooled until they went to college. By standard metrics they have all excelled. Glory to God.
Yes probably smarter on average, more committed on average too. Also, poorer!!! Cause you don’t get at least one parent’s “income.”

This year, Iran, and now the bane of government schools, homeschooling, is coming forward.

My homeschooled kids were taught through a combination of academic and experiential learning. We went out and applied what they learned.
Biology lessons were held daily on our farm. Math lessons were in household budgeting and spending. Reading was from the Bible, the classics, and modern literature both fiction and non-fiction. With the internet, if there’s something they want to learn, they learn it. I simply approve the source.
Of course my oldest who is now in college is thriving and wondering what’s wrong with all of his peers.
Oh, and neither my son nor my daughters have ever entertained the thought that boys can be girls and vice-versa.
True ...Homeschooled kids don’t waste time on whether there are more than 2 genders, that America is racist, that you need a pride flag in the classroom or other BULLS**T!!
I’m working on one titled “The Kinematics of Machinery”. It was published in 1921, and is tough going.
