I'm sure there's a simple explanation, but I don't know it.

Look at it from the top and do a ray trace from objective to the camera: The light comes from her face, across and outside the edge of the fabric, hits the mirror, and goes to the camera.
Reflection of light rays:
(But mirrors are kind of creepy all around...)
...on second thought Light is kind of creepy, too...
If I can’t quickly explain a video, I take the easy way out. I just say it’s fake AI.
That’s probably not the case here. But that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
It is not called a “mirror universe” for nothing, you know. Light rays reflect at angle of incidence, and the exact same light rays come back at the complement of that angle. Simple physics and mathematical computation. No magic is involved.
(But mirrors are kind of creepy all around...)
Makes as much sense as quantum physics...
Once upon a time I made a chip with thousands and thousands of tiny individually steerable mirrors...
Now darken the room except for a single lit candle, stare into the mirror and say “Candyman” three times.
She is informed of her presence in front of the mirror by virtue of another observer’s perspective, which perspective is informed by what mirrors do.
When I was a kid, I think it was ‘Bloody Mary’.
Why does this bother you? This is what mirrors do.
Light apparently can’t decide to identify as a particle or as a wave.
Maybe the WNBA can help poor Light pick its correct identity....
Ever play pool?
I think Light would just say, ‘Not my problem - it’s just your observation’.
It would bother me more if you couldn’t see her in the mirror.
A mirror is a negative space
With a frame and a place for your face
It reveals what the rest of us see
It conceals what they’re likely to be
