Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, a Ugandan king who became the world’s youngest reigning monarch when he was crowned at the age of 3 in 1995, has died. He was 34.
Rukidi IV, the ruler of the small Kingdom of Tooro in Uganda’s west, died around 10 p.m. local time Thursday, Tooro Prime Minister Calvin Armstrong Rwomiire Akiiki announced.
“This is an immeasurable loss to the Royal Family, the people of Tooro and the nation of Uganda,” he said in a statement. “I call upon all the people of Tooro to remain united, calm and prayerful during this profoundly difficult time.”
The Tooro kingdom did not disclose the cause of King Oyo’s death. However, Akiiki claimed the king had been critically ill and seeking treatment in the US, according to local paper The Daily Monitor.
The unmarried king had left an heir and that “continuity of the Crown is assured,” said Balaam Barugahara, a minister in the government of President Yoweri Museveni.
Rukidi IV was made king when he was just three years old in Sept. 1995, after his father, Rukirabasaija Patrick David Matthew Kaboyo Olimi III, died at 49.
The king earned the Guinness World Record as the world’s youngest reigning monarch.
He was the 13th monarch of the kingdom, which was founded more than 200 years ago, and ruled over more than two million people.

I saw somewhere that it was cancer. A lot of that turbo cancer going around.
Owwwww! An opening for mandummy?
That ManDamnee guy to attend the funeral?
That's the same thing I wondered when I saw this. I believe his parents reside in Uganda, so he'd have a place to stay when attending the funeral.
But what about Queen Hatchi Tachi?
Can we send Ugandan Mamdani back there to take his place?
Oh no! He was an aspiring rapper just about to turn his life around.
Rikidi, we hardly knew ye
What anopportunity for the experienced former president and now construction magnate and real estate impresario, Barka Hinsane O’bama, to send in his resume’ as advisor and consultant, regent, and shadow emperor of his kinsman there.
Somebody get this to B. Hussein! (although his husband is probably already working on it...
“the king had been critically ill and seeking treatment in the US”
will Trump be blamed? (just kidding)
Crowned at three years old.
RIP, Rukidi. You led a remarkable life.
I guess the Post is hoping Mandami picks this up and abdicates his mayorship so he can go rule the Tooro.
YOLO Oyo.
Doubt mummydummy cares much for an king of Anglican religion of a kingdom where muslims are a minority, but will probably attend for an ISCAP leader.
There goes my dream of being a King over an African country. They die much too young.
I wonder how much it would cost to buy their loyalty. Population of Tooro 3.4 million, average wage $124/month.
So 4 million * $125 = $500 million. Nope, Can’t afford that yet.
Why would a King go to the US for medical care when he can get the far better care we always hear that the UK and Canada and Cuba have to offer?
The press quickly blamed climate change and White nationalism.
Wow, king of Norway, now this guy, who’ll be number three?
Religion Anglican
