Tim Curry, a multitalented star of the stage and screen, died Tuesday at his home at the age of 80. The three-time Tony Award-nominated icon was best known for his eccentric characters, his musical background, and his comedic chops, leading to a varied and successful career in cult classics and box office hits.
Curry “passed away peacefully at his home in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles,” according to a statement from his longtime manager Marcia Hurwitz. The cause of death has not been made public, but Curry had suffered from several health issues since having a severe stroke in 2012.
Though he was best-known for donning fishnets and a corset as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in 1975’s “Rocky Horror Picture Show,” Curry had left his mark with a wide-ranging career spanning albums, voice work, and more.

I would say the West peaked in the 70/80s, with the end of the 80s, early 90s as a plateau, then late 90s we saw the slide down begin. Shockingly imo the Matix got that right.
Only saw it in the theater once, as a teen back in the 80s. Went with a group of friends. We were likely a bit intoxicated.
We had no idea there was a rehearsed script of proper callbacks and my buddy kept shouting out random stuff at the wrong times, thinking he was playing along. We thought it was funny. The audience, I'm sure, less so.
Anyhow, few actresses ever looked sexier on screen than Susan Sarandon did, spending much of the film in nothing more than her underwear.
The movie sucked, but it was still fun to go watch it with your high school pals.

He also played “The Prosecutor” in the Roger Waters concert of ‘The Wall’ in Berlin in 1990.
He was truly haunting in that show. His face did all the work.
I've never been able to watch more than five minutes of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, as it seems completely over the top with debauchery. That movie seems like a musical done by Pennywise, with his henchmen being all the other roles. It seems a musical from, and for, Satan.
I do hope he repented and found a holier life, but we may not know.
He played Pennywise perfectly.

Be that as it may, Tim’s entrance scene is top notch. Only he could pull off something like that.

I never cared for him, but to each his own.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show was a Saturday night movie for guys who couldn’t get laid in a cathouse. Aside from that nonsense, Mr. Curry had a diverse and entertaining body of work. He was really funny in Home Alone 2, and his Pennywise in the TV mini-series IT was plenty spooky.
Rest in peace, Mr. Curry.

Late 1970’s Huntington Theatre (NY). Rock Horror started at midnight, and Eraserhead played right after that. Late, late nights.
I believe the main character was one of them cross dressing faygs.
