The Montgomery City and County-funded Community Violence Intervention (CVI) program appears to have taken down its website and cleansed its social media page of photos after a second person connected to the program was arrested and charged with a drug-related crime.
Patrick O'Neal Perry, 32, of Montgomery, was recently arrested by the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) with 19 pounds of marijuana and $30,000 in cash. 1819 News revealed that Perry has apparent ties to a City-funded Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Program, appearing frequently on the program's social media wearing shirts associated with the group Save our Streets -MGM
Records now indicate that Daniel Lamar Hatcher, who likewise has an apparent connection to the CVI Program and also appears frequently in social media posts, was arrested two weeks before Perry and charged with distribution of cocaine. His bond was set at $30,000.

1819 News' previous story did reveal a now-deleted picture of Perry with Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed.
The CVI Program has yet to respond to 1819 News regarding the position Perry held.
Hatcher, who goes by several aliases like DooDoo, claims in a handwritten motion before the court that the evidence used against him in this case has also been used to indict him in federal court. He also claims in the letter that a detective was having a sexual relationship with the confidential informant he allegedly interacted with in the cocaine deal.
The indictment used to arrest him was issued in 2009. Court records do indicate that Hatcher was convicted in 2010 of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine in federal court, stemming from a 2009 indictment. The conviction earned him a 300-month sentence. It is unclear if the state and federal indictments stem from the same alleged crime. However, contrary to Hatcher's claim in his letter, both the state and federal governments may charge him under the dual sovereignty doctrine.
Hatcher was on parole when he was arrested. However, the court documents do not specify the previous conviction. Hatcher has one first-degree robbery charge and two second-degree assault convictions. He was also previously charged with carrying a pistol without a license and receiving stolen property.
Perry was arrested at Fairhaven Lane in Montgomery last week after law enforcement carried out a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation into contraband connected to Fountain Correctional Facility. He is charged with trafficking marijuana and was released on a $100,000 bond.
Save our Streets -MGM is the social media page for the CVI Program, which is funded by the City of Montgomery.
The program claims to be an "initiative designed to reduce fatal and non-fatal shootings in Montgomery through a series of evidence-based interventions."
The program is part of the "Together We Rise" initiative heavily pushed by Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed in 2024, after growing cries from residents, as well as state and federal lawmakers, to address the growing crime problem.
At its inception, the City boasted that the program "builds on existing efforts and introduces new strategies to foster a safer and more resilient community."
The City of Montgomery launched the Together We Rise initiative in December 2024 and received $1.7 million over 30 months from the City of Montgomery. The County Commission also contributed the same amount.
"'Together We Rise' is more than a slogan—it's a call to action," Reed said at the time. "Public safety is a shared responsibility, and by working together—city officials, community organizations, faith leaders, and residents—we can build a safer, stronger Montgomery. It means investing in our youth, empowering them with opportunities, and ensuring they grow up in a city free from violence. Let's rise together to create the community we all deserve."
The fatigue is real.
Drugs = no violence?
WHY ARE THEY ALLOWED TO “BOND OUT”??
Nonviolent crime......😁
I’m very disappointed in Mayor Reed. He was a judge prior to Mayor and was very fair in the case I had to go to court with to get guardianship of my mentally challenged sister in law. There was a cousin trying to get her due to a large trust fund in her name. Judge Reed saw through all the B.S. and awarded her to me, but he’s been bad as a Mayor.
The Peter Principle............
Too baked to be bad?
Exactly! Crime in Montgomery is awful! I live 15 miles north of it in a small quiet community, thankfully!
“”’Together We Rise’ is more than a slogan—it’s a call to action,””
We are ll very aware of the action ‘you people’ are called to when you rise together.
