He's most like Trump but he'd have to quit to run. Defense/FP might take a back seat to domestic stuff by then.

"Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and other senior administration officials have made stops in the state as Republicans work to bolster GOP candidates ahead of the midterms, CBS News reported."

He's the other that's got my attention. Non politicians that have the air of confidence. Two of the major cabinet departments.

Rubio, Hegseth, Bessent is my order of preference. Right now, at least. Bessent has no chance, and I really like him.

Hegpeth needs a better tailor. He always looks like he buys suits off the rack that are one size too small.

Scott Bessent’s husband and partner is John Freeman, a former New York City prosecutor.

Never in a million years will conservatives vote for Bessent.

It’s funny. It takes years to build up a following and a lot of money brought in along the way. Obama was the flash in the pan exception. It shows it can be done but the lefties have to present themselves as something they’re not. They get exposed sooner or later-hopefully before it’s too late.

They’re constantly on the attack and we have to sweat out the next election day to get our validation. Even now and we’ve got congress. A bigger victory would help.

He thinks he can still get away with the skinny jeans look.

He can’t.

I don’t think Hegseth has much of a chance either. Perhaps they’re angling for the VP slot? (And I hope Bessent has the stomach to remain in politics: he’s been a very pleasant surprise, very competent, always one of the adults in the room.)

Sorry but I would say that’s probably a non starter…

But I could be wrong…. But honestly don’t see him pulling off a successful campaign

I like Pete, but I’m afraid he doesn’t have much of a chance in the General.................

Well...I’m a straight “white” conservative. I would vote for Scott in a heartbeat.

Bessent is intelligent, articulate, loyal and conservative. He does not wear or talk about his sexual preferences. His focus in public is on his job and literally his ability to embarass “hack” journalists...

Rubio or DeSantis. Hegseth is not a president.

We don’t need TV clowns like this running for president.

Most of the cabinet went to Iowa to campaign.

I really like Bessent, too, but a homosexual President? That is a bridge too far.

A lot depends on who they are running against. I’d vote for Bessent over AOC or Ossoff of Newsom. But I don’t think Bessent will get past the primary.
