Iran’s oil exports have dropped to nearly zero under the renewed US naval blockade, according to analysis from a former senior US Treasury official — who predicts that the economic impacts could hit the elite and destabilize the regime within two to three months.
Iran’s ability to ship oil out of the Strait of Hormuz to offset its current economic woes has hit a wall under the new blockade, with little to no activity seen at its Kharg Island hub, according to recent satellite images.
As Iran and the US attempt to use economic pressures to see who will blink first, Miad Maleki, who served in the Treasury under President Trump and Joe Biden, said Tehran’s regime will finally run out of room to maneuver this fall.
“The blockade has exposed Iran’s biggest economic vulnerability,” said Maleki, who now works at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies think tank.
“Iran’s oil clock is running down and the real fiscal shock is going to hit in the fall when all their payments come due,” he added.
Iran notably pays its troops, government employees, security forces and industrial workers in cycles, with about 60% of the money coming from its oil exports, Maleki said.
If its exports continue to be hamstrung in the next cycle, the regime will have few options to shield its soldiers and elites from the economic shock.
While the regime has proven that it can endure economic pains suffered by everyday citizens, its attitude will likely change once members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the wealthy elite start complaining, Maleki said.
Trump, who has previously boasted that Iran has no money to pay its troops, signaled that he would maintain full economic pressures on Iran.

We did a lot of smashing up of that stuff, but I assume you are too blind to have noticed.
Iran has 31 provinces (Persian: ostān), and has gone to their “mosaic” and :hydra” strategies, which enhances overall regime survivability, but I wonder if that wartime autonomy might result in some provinces that could be picked off / switch sides shortly before the midterms?
Particularly in some agricultural areas that have suffered greatly due to the regimes’ mismanagement of Iran’s water resources, there is great resentment. We might have to erase a couple layers of the local governance...
This would at least show some progress toward “flipping” the country overall.
Not just the regime...
I don’t think a Blood Sucking Leach cares if the Host is financially disabled. You have to physically remove it or it stays attached.
This is why I say *IF* Trump were going to go back into Iran, he should have waited until after the midterms. That would have given him 2 full years. I don’t think the regime in Iran can last that long under a naval blockade.
I believe he knew they would keep reneging, but was loathe to wipe out huge portions of the population - he knew they would eventually crater economically.
Iran is not months away from a nuke at this point. Not only have we destroyed quite a lot of their nuclear facilities, the bombings took out most if not all of their senior nuclear scientists.
Despite the nearly endless propaganda from the media, Epic Fury has been extremely successful at achieving its military goals.
The only thing I would have done differently, is airdropping tens of thousands of small arms, along with ammo, to the Iranian resistance. Mossad is on the ground to coordinate things.
Dare we hope this is really it? Because peace with Iran requires the end of the Islamic Republic regime.
"Death to America" isn't merely war propaganda, it's a founding principle of the Islamic Republic.
And they're doing it with our money, thanks to the free traitors.
Actually it was when he implemented the tariffs worldwide, in his first term he only tariffed China, this time around he tariffed everyone, causing prices for everyday goods to go even higher than they already were, he didnt understand it was US that was paying the price
Peace with Iran will come after the Democrat landslide in November, the cause of this is going to be your war.
I'm willing to pay more in the short term, if in the long term it means bringing back jobs, rebuilding our tax base, and funding our retirement and military with tax dollars rather than borrowed dollars that our kids will have to pay back.
We're that close to losing our country. If preventing that isn't worth paying a few extra pennies here and there, I don't know what is.
That should be the message, instead of the nothing I've been hearing.
I agree, and the GOP is not reminding people how horrible it was under Biden, with Biden there was 9 percent inflation, now its down to 3.5 something like that, its a HUGE improvement and its thanks to President Trump..but the GOP says nothing. A few days ago on Newsmax they were talking about how Reagan was blamed for Jimmy Carter’s inflation and he lost 26 house seats, but the economy improved and he won again in a landslide, so the economy, just gotta give it time, but the GOP says NOTHING, they should talk about how things are going to get better and how since Biden left, things have already gotten better..but people they are like sheep listening to the media that tells them how things are worse now than when Biden was in office please and idiots believe it
