A Massachusetts teenager who allegedly used ChatGPT for searches about 'killing his family' before murdering his mother and brother flashed a wide-eyed stare in court, as prosecutors claimed he spent $2,000 on cereal bars following the murders.

Arjun Aravind, 17, was arraigned in Concord District Court on Thursday after being accused of killing his mother Sudha Venkatesan, 45, and his younger brother, Siddharth Aravind, 14, inside their $1 million home in Acton two days prior.

Aravind, who had his hands and ankles cuffed, glanced around the courtroom at times, with his dark, wavy hair partly obscuring his face.

A police report alleged that Aravind went to a Stop & Shop where he worked shortly after the killing Tuesday and purchased more than $2,000 in cereal and energy bars, according to the Boston Globe.

Aravind used a credit card that police believe belonged to his mother, per the report. He allegedly planned to resell the bars.

The teen was allegedly found asleep around 3.40am Wednesday inside his mom's 2014 Honda Accord, which investigators determined Aravind had left the family home in, according to prosecutors.

Investigators allegedly found the cereal bars, bedding from the house, a laptop, a cellphone and Venkatesan's pocketbook inside the vehicle, according to the Globe.

The police report added that Aravind's father, Sukumaran Aravind, told investigators his son's recent 'concerning internet activities' had caused the family to hide knives from him.

Police added that Aravind's father told law enforcement that his son had been making ChatGPT searches about 'theoretical ideas and fantasies regarding killing his family,' the Globe reports.

The father allegedly said Aravind, a rising senior at Acton-Boxborough High School, had been having behavioral issues and had been diagnosed with autism.

Acton, MA has a very high Indian population.

And in that area, “a $1M home” is basically a starter home. Nothing special at all.

“…a rising senior…”

Were we to assume he was a “sinking” senior?

What is with this stupid use of “rising,” all of the sudden? We normally expect that as we age, we are “rising” in age and in what we do.

--- "Wild–eyed boy, 17"

Upright 17 year old can serve in the US military with parental consent, and at 18 without.

The Left -- of which the Daily Mail is a part -- wants the world to think that murderous jackass is a "boy."

Why are these articles all mentioning how much the homes are worth? One million unfortunately is no big deal these days. My 150k home in 1998 is assessed at 750k now. It’s no big house at all.

why do these parents ( lookin’ at you, Rob Reiner) not see what is right in front of them- your kid is a crazy person.
I had an aunt like this- my cousin was batshit crazy and a huge guy. He waivered between “MOMMYMOMMY” and “I hate you, mommy” He lived with her until he died, and she was lucky he did not hurt her physically.

Not necessarily Trans. Everything you see there shows a typical youth of Indian or Paki ancestry. Most of them have thick, dark hair like that. Most of them have small boned or lanky builds like this.

**Side Note: Unfortunately, if this kid and his family were back in India, they may at first be looked down upon by other Indians, because of their relatively dark skin.
Even now, in 2026, “Colorism” continues, with most Indians
much preferring to be light in complexion, vs dark.
This cultural bias remains present in advertising.

It just means that he’s finished the junior year and when he returns to school for the Fall semester he will be a Senior. It’s not a new term at all, been used a long time to refer to someone between grades, usually in the Summer.
