Never Underestimate The Impact of Free Republic
Free Republic | Bill Russell

Posted on 08/07/2026 2:50:49 AM PDT by Bill Russell

Yesterday, the President signed new Executive Orders expanding the definition of who is excluded from Birthright Citizenship. While there is an absolute likelihood that all those really smart attorneys and other people in the Executive branch came up with the updated policies independent of anything I floated here, in the blogosphere, and through indirect channels, I will take it as a win. Even if independently arrived at by others, the ideas floated here definitely appear to have been ground into the sausage making process of the new policies.

Never underestimate the impact of Free Republic on national debates! -- Back in 2008, when I was a completely unknown congressional candidate running against one of the most corrupt and powerful congressmen in US history and did not even know what FreeRepublic was, it was a Freeper (Hope you are still out there and in good health, Rusty!) who elevated my campaign on this forum and got the attention of Michelle Malkin and other members of the national press, enabling my campaign to give John Murtha a run for his money. With that history in mind, here are the links to the original article on July 19, 2026, and the new Birthright Citizenship Executive Orders:

“”So if a reality check like the above is “demoralizing” to you, then that’s your problem.””

“”By this logic, not a single civilian had any right to question the foreign policy decisions of not just Trump, but Biden, Obama, Bush, Clinton, etcetera.””

***

Here’s a reality check for you re: your attempt to equate intelligence failures under Trump and Netanyahu with anything Obama and OBiden did.... it’s bunk.

Obama released pallets of cash ($1.7 billion, to be exact) to the Iran mullahs, who were then and still ARE funding anti-America terrorism. And... Obama was best buds with the Muslim Brotherhood, or have you conveniently forgotten? Obama and OBiden both deliberately opened up our borders and allowed in terrorists and hoards of criminals and insane cretins. That’s deliberate sabotage (if not treason), not merely an “intelligence failure”.

That said... in your case, I won’t even say “nice try”... because that argument of yours is just about THE most asinine I’ve seen presented by your ilk yet. I’m sure you can and will top it, though. After that latest post of yours, I have ultimate faith in your ability to spout even more ludicrous utter BULLcRAP.

Oh, and as for anything you say being demoralizing... hell to the no on that. I don’t let lies and propaganda bother me enough to do anything but call it out and refute it. Because in the end, liars never win. Your day will come.

I’ve been here as long as you. And I also remember the Freeper who broke that story about the typeface being wrong.

"Much of the hatred towards Vance has been stirred up by the likes of Mark Levin, who foam at the mouth at any deviation in US policy from what Netanyahu demands (i.e. Vance dared to question whether Netanyahu's aims in the region really align with ours), and to a lesser extent the smarmy, self-righteous Ukraine obsessives, who just can't forgive Vance for saying that he (quite reasonably) doesn't really give a damn about Ukraine."

You may notice a little overlap between those two groups. On the Ukraine crowd--notice how largely absent they are on threads about the anti-democratic doings in Hungary and the EU when before they were crowing about Orban's ouster.

For all your self-righteous vitriol, you completely missed my point.

The entire logic behind rlmorel's argument was that we mere citizens had no access to all of the information and intelligence that the White House has, therefore we had no grounds to criticize the President's decision.

Pointing out the flaw in that line of thinking does not imply that I endorsed what the likes of Obama and Biden actually did, you silly goose.

I don’t let lies and propaganda bother me enough to do anything but call it out and refute it.

Point out where I lied. Try it.

Rush Limbaugh once used my old Tagline during the Obama years. I was honored but I do think he should’ve credited me with it. The Tagline was:

“I don’t oppose Obama because his skin is too black, but because his ideas are too red”.

“I don’t oppose Obama because his skin is too black, but because his ideas are too red”

My favorite line about Obama, though I don't recall who first said it was "I don't hate Obama for being black. I hate his white half too."

Self-righteous? I don’t think you know what that word means. As for me missing your point, I replied to your direct quote/comment ... where you insinuated that what Obama and OBiden did to America was merely “intelligence failures”, comparing it to what Trump chose re: going into Iran. There IS no comparison re: that.

“”Pointing out the flaw in that line of thinking does not imply that I endorsed what the likes of Obama and Biden actually did, you silly goose.””

***

You seemingly compared what Obama and OBiden deliberately did re: how they harmed or decimated our national security by aiding and abetting terrorists and the nations funding them...to “intelligence failures”, which was the subject at hand.

“”Point out where I lied. Try it.””

***

As for your challenge, looks like you’re the “silly goose” here... since spreading and spewing propaganda IS a form of LYING. Emphasis on the “misleading” and “disinformation” = lies.

Definition of propaganda:

Disinformation, especially of a biased or misleading nature, used to promote a particular cause, doctrine, or point of view.

“”Nobody voted for Trump to start a stupid war with Iran. “”

***

You have well-established your stance on Trump’s “stupid war”... despite the fact that you didn’t have access to the intel he had re: Iran’s nuke progress (rlmorel’s point). That stance is the very definition of propaganda... criticizing Trump for something that you have NO IDEA why he did it. I suspect that it wouldn’t matter if you did have the intel showing that Iran was that close to getting its nuke on... you’d still be against going in and preventing that.... almost like you have ‘an agenda’ here.

Your ilk keeps calling it “Trump’s stupid war” and in so doing, you are aiding and abetting America’s enemies without... and America’s enemy within, the leftist Democrats. Guess that that makes you in my logic book?

I call it a "stupid war" because—notwithstanding munition stocks were already in a deplorable state because of how much we assisted Ukraine in the years prior—it's being conducted in a way that Trump would not have hesitated to lambast ANYONE else over. (Especially since opening the Strait of Hormuz has become one of our operational goals...when it was already open before our operation started on 2/28.)

Trump should have remembered his own words from his first term:

The longer the Iran War continues on like this, the more likely the Republicans will suffer a bloodbath in the November midterms. Then implementing Trump's domestic agenda will become even more impossible.

That's not an outcome I want.

Yet, because I think the Iran War is going to lead to an unfavorable political outcome for conservatives, that somehow makes me someone who carries the water for Democrats?

Get over yourself.

Yes, because your constant bashing Trump for his decisions in the Iran war is the very definition of aiding and abetting the Democrats and is “in sync” with the propaganda that they are spewing, non-stop. In fact, I’m betting they are munching on popcorn and cheering you on here.

Begs the question... are you hoping that your constant critique against Trump will sway some into NOT voting for Republicans this November and in 2028? Because that’s what it looks like to me.... since that is the more likely outcome from your posts.

As for that “get over yourself”....

you first.

The Iran War is ridiculously unpopular. The longer it continues on, the BETTER it turns out for the Democrats. How in the world do you not see this?

The sooner Trump turns his focus away from the Middle East (like he was voted to do) and back to working on America's domestic issues (like he was voted to do), the more likely people are going to be willing to vote Republican.

It's not rocket science.

Other than the late Linda Graham, has there been a single member of Congress who has come out and publicly supported this stupid military campaign since February?

I can’t think of any, though I’m not on top of all the media reporting on any given day.

No war is ever “popular”... and that is as it should be. But some wars are necessary.... since we do indeed live in evil and dangerous times. I would think that you’d be old enough or intelligent enough to know that.

Trump has proven himself to me, as I previously (before his first term) did not know he could be trusted. But now... I trust that Trump, a notoriously anti-war guy, is doing the right thing and what IS necessary to protect and preserve America as a ‘not nuked’ nation. One thing’s for damned sure... if left up to the likes of Obama, Mandani, or ANY other damned Democrat... America would already be smoldering in radioactive ashes.

The pragmatic reality is... if preventing Iran from being able to nuke us or any of our allies ends up giving the rats control of Congress... then we’ll just have to deal with that reality... as that outcome is still better than the unthinkable nuke one is. But I also have faith in the patriots that put Trump in the WH in 2024. I think they have enough intelligence to know what I know and believe... that Trump has our best interests at heart... unlike the Democrats and America’s “other” enemies.

But just know that what you’re posting here is no doubt delighting the Democrats, so in that vein... you really ARE carrying their water and helping them win... if you are changing minds and swaying voters away from the GOP with your “stance”.

Nah... it’s not rocket science, it’s “nuclear science”...

much more technical and complex.

Let’s worry about finishing Year 251 of the American Revolution before we carry on with Year 47 of whatever war you’re talking about. :-P
