Stories like this never end well. My stepfather had is daughters (my step-sisters) raise chickens. The girls came to view them as pets. Then one day they had a chicken dinner and my stepfather let slip where it came from . . . . .

Early on in us keeping a small flock of (free range when practical) chickens, my daughter named them all.
Omelet, Scramble, Stew (a rooster), etc...
