Clay Travis Challenges WNBA Champs to Play Boys High School State Title Team, Offers to Pay $10 Million to Winners

Outkick founder Clay Travis on Monday challenged the defending Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) champions, the Las Vegas Aces, to play a boys’ high school basketball team, offering to pay the winners $10 million.

This offer significantly increases the $1 million wager Travis initially proposed in 2023, which was rejected by the Aces.

“Important announcement: I am upping my offer, $10 million dollars for a head-to-head basketball game between the defending WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces and a boy’s high school state title team of my choice,” Travis posted on X Monday. “If the Aces beat my team, I will give them $10 million.”

Travis stated in a subsequent post that he will pay the boys’ team the same amount to distribute among the players, with any pay-per-view profits donated to the Tunnel 2 Towers charity, which provides mortgage free homes to families of deceased soldiers, police, and first responders.

“This will be the most money ever paid to win a single basketball game,” he wrote. “A modern day battle of the sexes. $10 million to the winning team.”

Travis later stipulated he would offer the same amount to the WNBA all-star team in a match-up against high school boys.

When asked who would be the odds-on favorite for such a match-up, X’s AI GROK, replied: “A top boys high school state title team would be heavy favorites over the Aces.”

Post-puberty male advantages in strength, speed, vertical, and explosiveness create a major mismatch against even elite WNBA skill and IQ.

Estimated odds roughly HS boys -1500 to -2000 / Aces +900 to +1400 (Aces ~5-15% win probability), consistent with prior sportsbook projections for similar matchups.

As of Monday afternoon, the Aces had not accepted the offer, and the game remained hypothetical.

Travis also announced on Monday his intention of creating what he called “the most inclusive team in @wnba history.”

“The Nashville Balls. A 100% trans organization — men finally breaking the glass ceiling in women’s sports!”

“Clay is the king of putting his money where his mouth is,” said former collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines on X. “What do you say to having the most inclusive team in league history, @WNBA?” she asked. “If you decline the offer, you’re bigoted transphobes btw.”

The conservative activist has recently faced fierce opposition from the pro-trans crowd for attending contentious pro-Sophie Cunningham rallies before WNBA games to show support for the Indiana Fever star’s stance against biological males competing against women in sports.

Cunningham currently stands alone in the league in speaking up for women against biological males invading women’s sports.

In response to the latest woke WNBA coach to support “transgenders” in women’s sports, Travis doubled down on starting an all trans WNBA team.

“I am not kidding about this. I am prepared to buy a @wnba expansion franchise and locate them in Nashville,” Travis insisted on X. “I pledge to have a 100 percent trans team, all men who identify as women. I will also employ a 100 percent trans coaching staff. Most inclusive team in history!”

Ridicule as a weapon. I remember soccer: In April 2017, a scoreline involving the USWNT (United States Women’s National Team) sent shockwaves through the sports world: a 5-2 defeat at the hands of the FC Dallas Under-15 boys academy team. Occurring during a training camp in Dallas, Texas, the match was intended as an informal “tune-up” ahead of international friendlies against Russia. While the result was widely circulated as a sign of weakness by critics, soccer analysts and team veterans like Carli Lloyd have since clarified the specific tactical goals of the session.

So, the WMBA offers the high school kids 2 million to play and lose. The women get to split 8 million with their organization. What the heck, like pro wrestling, it is all show anyway.

Travis just backed the entire bunch of virtue signalling leftists into their own self-created corner. Nice approach!

I'd bet if the boys team played full speed and with intensity, the gals would be hard pressed to get the ball across half court.

If they allowed the gals to cross half court they'd be reduced to shooting very long range threes...presuming they weren't contested.

I also wonder which ball they'd play with...the regulation NBA/high school ball or the smaller one the wnba uses.

The boys would have a 1% chance of losing this game.

The winner of the game will be decided by the ball. Girls can’t shoot a boys ball. Girls make those logo shots because the ball is smaller. They have a bigger target and a lighter ball. Girls could not get even 25 points with the boys ball. But also the boy’s sharp shooters will not be able to shoot from outside with a girls ball. They would need a month or two getting used to the small ball. It fits in the palm of their hands. Everyone will be able to palm it. But the boys might be able to win anyway because every one of them could jump over everyone of the girls. They would own the sky. And the speed.

Aryna Sabalenka #1 women’s tennis just backed Sophie. She lost to #916 . Sabalenka played an exhibition match against Nick Kyrgios in December 2025, losing 6-3, 6-3, in a matchup that reinforced how biological differences can impact competitive play at the highest level.

Now THAT I’d pay to see....and when it turned out the way we all know it would I’d laugh and.

But as we know it’ll never happen.

Instead Clay Travis will be called a bunch of nasty names by the usual nasty suspects.

I sure do miss Rush! But I take consolation that my Dad gets to hang out at Rush’s ‘Heavenly Round Table’ these days.

Dad went to the original, ‘Dan’s Bake Sale’ in Colorado way back when! ;)

All of the universities with a powerhouse NCAA women’s b-ball program recruit a “pick-up” men’s team from the student body for their varsity women’s team to practice against. These typically are young men who weren’t good enough to get a sports scholarship at any uni where they wanted to go. Yet these “scrub” men perpetually give the women’s team a drubbing.

Which is the whole point. The women aren’t likely to improve as much playing against their own second string as they do playing against a bunch of boys they can’t beat.

IIRC Serena was asked by Letterman if she would win against the men in tennis. She quickly answered no. The men’s game is much faster and stronger.

Until fairly recently, the international game used the standard Size 7 ball men also used. Many women’s coaches in Europe recommend a restoration to a Size 7 ball because that’s what they were taught in Europe. Return to the Size 7 ball.

I always have believed that the reason Bobby Riggs (55) lost to Billie Jean King (30) was simple. He bet on her (and made a fortune!).

Clay Travis is no Rush Limbaugh.

He’s not even half a Rush Limbaugh.

And when the women win titles, the practice men get rings. Michigan MBB head coach Mike Boynton started as Susan Walvius’ assistant at South Carolina’s women’s programme after his playing career ended.

“Balls”, in this context, refers to Basketballs, as we we’re a family-oriented site.
