Indeed!
I was on a run quickly solving a string of difficult puzzles the past week or two.

This one stumped me.
This one also stumped the online puzzle solver.
The online solver gave me the authors first name. I used that to solve most of the puzzle
I went back online to get the first 4 letter word

Steven, this one was really hard for me too. My strategy was:
1 - it’s obvious that H is used often
2 - so I kept trying the H for all the letters that are used the most, watching author’s name
3 - till I came to one that was recognized in a name. Easily recognizable to me because it’s one of my son’s name
4 - and like you, once I had author’s name the rest was easy.

Here is my clue …….

I started with the author’s first name. My first guess was GEORGI, but that didn’t open up anything. I cycled through the rest of the alphabet.

Rather than crypto analyze this one, I can simply take out the middle part of the puzzle, leaving one with:

“SHOW DONG. — ZHRIZO CZHDO”

I hereby submit this as my solution.

(And I’ve seen weirder names than Zhrizo Czhdo during my years in the new non-American Silicon Valley…)

Your strategy was useful for me. Once I cracked the author’s first name, the rest of the puzzle fell into place. The first name is common and fits a pattern.
