Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson is being mocked online over the "irony" of saying she is "very, very mindful and scrupulous" about being impartial during a guest appearance on former first lady Michelle Obama’s podcast, "IMO."
During an appearance of more than an hour on the podcast, Jackson, a Biden appointee to the Supreme Court, stressed the importance of being unbiased, saying, "You really have to be focused on that."
"There are lots of limits on what judges can do, and I try to be very, very mindful and scrupulous with respect to that because, as you say, our obligation is to be unbiased in our approach," said Jackson.
"And, so, you have to then navigate all the sources that could make for an appearance of partiality, which you want to avoid."
She added that "there are lots of things that I end up not accepting for that reason."(snip)
Reactions poured in quickly.
"Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown discusses the importance of being neutral while she is sitting on Michelle Obama’s podcast set!" Turning Point USA contributor John Amanchukwu wrote.
"She doesn’t really expect anyone to believe that, does she?" conservative influencer Patricia Foster wrote.
"Make it make sense," commentator DeVory Darkins wrote.
"Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson can't be real. She says it is important to be neutral as a Supreme Court justice........while she is literally on MAJOR leftist Michelle Obama's podcast," Darkins wrote. "We ALL know how impartial she is."
Harris Rigby, a columnist for the Babylon Bee's non-satirical site "Not the Bee," wrote, "There isn't a strong enough word for the irony in this video clip."
He ripped Jackson as "the most public, loud-mouthed, self-assured judge in the history of the United States," adding that she now "wants to lecture us about the dignity of the courts."

“I just feel that I have a wonderful opportunity to tell people in my opinions how I feel about the issues, and that’s what I try to do,” Jackson said.

“Some of her dissents this term have been pretty embarrassing,” said another user — adding that some “sound like a substack post” rather than a ruling on the law.
Asked what keeps her up at night, the much-maligned justice turned serious, saying, “I would say the state of our democracy.”

As to personal appearances, Supreme Court justices are bound by an official Code of Conduct which explicitly notes that a justice should not participate in events that lend the “prestige of the judicial office to advance the private interests” of others.
Justices decide on a case-by-case basis which speaking invites to accept, what non-profit groups to address, and which events to attend.
The Chief Justice is considered “first among equals”. While the Chief Justice leads the Court administratively, manages its budget, and presides over conferences, they hold no supervisory power over the personal or outside activities of their colleagues.
Unfortunately, I suspect that means nothing to her other than lip service, at best. Her actions unequivocally give her away. Repeated public appearances at and with, nothing but liberals and their likes, their causes.

We can always count on her to get her Supreme Court votes wrong.
She is someone who really need not be in the position she’s presently in. There are probably many better choices.
This is, of course, a consistent position from Jackson's view, so long as the Left fills whichever role is Imperial.

That this young woman states that “as a young woman, seeing Justice Jackson on the Supreme Court is ‘invigorating, truly’” says all you need to know about how the left, and the young left, think. Well-spoken does not in any way preclude being clueless.
