When you use skin color and chromosomes as criteria for filling positions of trust, as opposed to filling those positions with the best people regardless of skin color or chromosomes, you will not, unless by accident, get the best people for the job.
No public figure in recent memory exemplifies this maxim more than Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson. But that does not even tell half of the story.
According to The New York Times, Jackson has found herself increasingly at odds not only with SCOTUS’ nominally conservative majority, but also with her fellow liberals, Justices Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor.
"Badly outnumbered, seated for the long haul of life tenure, Justices Kagan and Jackson in particular are divided on the best approach to jobs in which they are more or less sentenced to fail,” the Times wrote.
Meanwhile, the outlet also noted “friction” between Jackson on one hand and Kagan and Sotomayor on the other.
In short, the senior liberal justices, particularly Kagan, prefer subtlety and diplomacy in dealing with their more conservative colleagues. Kagan knows, for instance, that she needs SCOTUS’ two swing votes, Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Amy Coney Barrett.
Jackson’s abrasiveness, on the other hand, appears to have threatened Kagan and Sotomayor’s burgeoning relationship with Barrett.
"As Justice Jackson settled in, Justice Sotomayor and Justice Kagan were drawing closer to one another, according to numerous people who know them both, and also forming ties with Justice Barrett, whose vote they desperately needed,” the Times wrote.
Indeed, the two senior liberals grew frustrated with their junior partner even before President Donald Trump won re-election.

What is the minimal time they have to serve before they can retire pensioned?
we thought we were getting conservatives, but instead we got "swing votes."
So far Trump is 0-3.
Once installed on the Supreme Court, Justice Jackson has probably been exposed to all kinds of information that completely contradicts most everything she has ever known or believed. Like any radical Leftist, this makes her even more angry and hateful.
Good, I hope she stays that way and drives Barrett away.
Other than the abortion issue, this shows that ACB is easily influenced.
Being obvious in her liberal biases, is bad enough for any Supreme Justice, but the fact that her supportive arguments are so flimsy, jejune and insubstantial makes it even worse!
Good. Everyone who has worked in an office with multiple women knows there’s constant friction, their cattiness always comes out. Barrett is pretty wishy washy so if Jackson is pissing her off that’s good for getting Barrett to vote the opposite of Jackson.
Yet Roe was reversed, and Trump has won every case in front of court so far this year.
I think he did better than 0-3.
Now if he wins the birthright citizenship case, then nobody gets to complain about his SCOTUS picks ever again. (Except the left, of course).
Was there an autopen involved in KBJ’s placement? Probably moot as there was a congressional process but...
>> Once installed on the Supreme Court, Justice Jackson has probably been exposed to all kinds of information that completely contradicts most everything she has ever known or believed
If she had any awareness outside of herself, she’d realize that she has the extraordinary blessing of working as a peer with one of the brightest conservative justices evah — Clarence Thomas — and strive to learn from him.
But poor self-absorbed woke racially oppressed ignoramus that she is, she’s trampling on that precious opportunity. Too bad, so sad.
We have to remember that here on Free Republic, only Thomas and Alito are ok with people here. There is always going to be some case,,somewhere , for which the others are criticized.
I think it’ll be 7-2 decision in birthright citizenship which means to maintain the status quo.
It’s not a problem that idem put this dummy on the USSC. There have been plenty of dummies on the Court.
What’s a problem is that she graduated with honors from Harvard Law School. That needs instant replay.
>> Yet Roe was reversed
I believe this court might just reverse the Oberdefag marriage redefinition travesty too.
I think it will be 9-0 in favor of “born in the US and not the child of a foreign diplomat or invading army” = US citizen.
Most optimistic scenario is going to be 8-1.
“So far Trump is 0-3.”
You don’t know anything.
No chance at 9-0. I think 6-3 and lose. Unfortunetly.
