The forensic evidence was bloody and grim. Thick clotted blood scored the bruised face of the corpse, from a multitude of deep, needle-sharp wounds.
More dried blood could be seen on the arms, feet and ankles, blood that had oozed from brutal injuries that punched through the bones.
These details, pieced together by successive teams of experts in criminal pathology, are captured in the oldest piece of murder evidence in the world: the Shroud of Turin.
The dead man, powerfully built and naked, must have suffered intense agonies... but he did not bleed to death.
Neither was he killed by the deep stab wound in his left side, close to his heart.
There were other wounds too, savage but not fatal – signs of a beating that began at his shoulders and left welts across his back and thighs.
All of these injuries contributed to his death, but the murder weapon was more gruesome still... gravity itself.
The victim was killed by his own body weight. His name, of course, was Jesus of Nazareth.
In his new book, The Shroud Rises, Australian researcher William West reaches a provocative conclusion: that the Shroud of Turin (pictured) does, beyond question, depict the face and body of Jesus Christ.
West (pictured) believes there to be ten irrefutable proofs that the Shroud is not a fake.
His death, by crucifixion at a public execution in Jerusalem around 33AD, must have been slow and unspeakably painful.
Slumped forward and suspended by his arms, he suffocated on the blood and pleural fluid that accumulated around his lungs.
After his body was taken down from the cross, it was wrapped in a linen cloth.
His blood, still wet, stained the cloth and then, so the faithful believe, the likeness of Christ's corpse was miraculously transferred onto the linen.

There is also no possible way to prove, even if the shroud had the appropriate age, that the person wrapped in it was any particular person. After all, the Romans crucified hundreds of thousands of people over the years, and in the early 1st century there were likely several thousand victims per year. NO ONE can possibly prove who this particular person was.
While going for my Master’s, my professors told us if we sourced anything using Wiki, our papers would be failed.

Well, not to be too technical, but Jews do not embalm their dead. Not now, and not 2000 years ago. Whoever wrote the scriptural account wasn’t Jewish and certainly was not familiar with Jewish burial practices.

All indicia point to the genuineness of the shroud. Proponents of the 14th century forgery theory, besides being unable to explain how the image, which is a scorch on the very top tendrils of the weave, need to explain away the Pray Codes, c. 1195. I’ve yet to see any explanation of why the Codex does not depict the shroud over 150 years before it was supposedly created. This is just a blog, but it adequately covers the issue

Clearly no time to embalm, and not the Jewish practice. But more was myrrh. The amount of weight was symbolic for Kings, and that is a beautiful symbol, frankly one of the most amazing gestures and Joseph of A should be given higher reverence in the faith. Agree, but I do not think a reasonable reading would infer that the Gospel was talking about embalming fluid, but myrrh. So no way the John was referring to embalming, and John is definitely a Jew.
For those of us who believe, no proof is needed. For those who don’t, no proof is enough.

Something may have happened way back then, but what is going on now makes it all irrelevant. Put the Gospel back in the Church instead of the rainbow and you may get believers back...

They did carbon 14 data on the cloth a few years ago, and showed that it was from the middle ages. Then they claimed they took the wrong piece off the shroud, but last I heard, they weren’t willing to re-test.
There were probably enough pieced of wood from the ‘true cross’ to build a boat.
Some folks just want really badly to be scammed.
They literally just retested it in a highly accurate new tech, 2,000 years old. What is the fake part? the pollen Jerusalem, the we’ve, the impression that can’t be reproduced except for massive radiation? the blood? The new WAXS analysis that puts it at 2,000 years old?
And this artistic representation of the 14th century exhibits features we don’t understand in the 21st century and was made by no technique that can be explained inbthe 2qst century.
So will scientists be able to extract dna from the blood on the shroud and clone whoever it was?
