Gov. Gavin Newsom's former lover is pulling back the curtain on their affair ... revealing the lengths she went to get him alone -- and the advice Kamala Harris gave her when the scandal exploded.
Ruby Rippey writes in a new Vanity Fair essay that professional boundaries with Newsom began crumbling while she worked as his secretary during his time as San Francisco mayor.
Rippey says she would scan Newsom's calendar for openings, show up wherever he was expected to be and make sure he spotted her before slipping away. She says her phone would soon light up with a text asking, "Where are you?"
The location apparently didn't matter ... because Rippey says she always went to him ... whether at his Russian Hill penthouse, a private room inside a North Beach bar or the W Hotel in Los Angeles.
A rep for Newsom tells TMZ ... "The Governor acknowledged his role and publicly apologized nearly two decades ago when he was still mayor. In the time since, he met his wife, started a family and has focused on serving Californians."
The rep says Newsom "addressed this chapter of his life, including in his memoir, and, out of respect for everyone involved, has nothing further to add."
Rippey -- who at the time was married to Newsom's close friend and campaign manager, Alex Tourk -- says the relationship wasn't about love or romance. She describes it as another form of intoxication during her struggle with alcohol and cocaine ... fueled by proximity to power and the feeling of being chosen.

Kamala wasn’t the ex -lover. Rippey was.

Purposely misleading.
Not that I’m okay with these guys. I’m not but I don’t like misleading.

Who wrote that headline?
I read the first 5 words of the headline and thought: Wow. When was Kamala Newsom’s lover?
It’s bad enough she orally pleased Willie, but Gavin too?
There is no punctuation in the original, but a line feed and different size typeface makes the meaning clearer. Unfortunately, that cannot translate into FR headlines.
At first I thought, that Kamala really gets around . . . and “why is Newson slumming”?

As has been recognized before, Democrats, and liberal political groups in general attract narcissists. If you don't have the business acumen to become uber wealthy, the creative talents to become a great composer, artist, writer, etc., aren't elite at athletics, and don't have the skills to be a great scientist or mathematician, but need to be ‘great’, politics is a very attractive avenue.
You can manipulate and bs your way to a political career, and potentially achieve public office (you don't have to be particularly good at anything to attain public office - as is apparent by a quick perusal of current office holders).
Harris believes her public statements that 'the last election was one of the closest in history'. She believes that she was very, very close to becoming the President of the US. She is obsessed with achieving that - as evidence of how great she is and how wrong her dad was to doubt her amazing talents
Way off track of this thread, but my way of making the case that Kamala is likely behind this affair becoming public now.

This makes Kamala look good, because she wasn’t trying to leverage this as an advantage over Newsom.
So many of these headlines we see anymore make no sense at all.
Why can’t people make a decent headline that makes sense?
