Two Florida death row inmates are scheduled to be executed hours apart on Tuesday, which would mark the first time in more than six decades the state puts to death multiple people within a single day, as state officials continue to ramp up executions.
“I’m not shocked anymore by the number of death warrants that are being signed, but it struck me as a kind of rupture to the system that we would execute two people within six hours from one another,” said Father Dustin Feddon, a Catholic priest who has been visiting prisoners on Florida’s death row for more than a decade.
Feddon currently ministers to James Duckett, who is scheduled to be executed at noon on Tuesday. Duckett has spent more than three decades on death row after being convicted of murdering 11-year-old Teresa McAbee in 1987.
Hours after Duckett’s death, the state plans to execute Dominick Occhicone, an 80-year-old man who would be the second octogenarian ever executed in the US death penalty’s modern era, according to data from the Death Penalty Information Center (DPIC). He was convicted of double murder in 1987 for killing his former girlfriend’s parents, Raymond and Martha Artzner.

I’ve repeated the true story of the last of the official executioners for the Vatican, which regularly executed criminals for hundreds of years. People used to see the executioner walking on the road and they quickly and enthusiastically rushed to gather dozens of townspeople because it meant it was an execution day. They watched the death of the criminals, sometimes by a bludgeoning mallet, other times various blades. There is a museum devoted to the execution devices and instruments he used and his life and times.
It is just a post-term abortion.
As I've gotten older I've come to appreciate the death penalty and the place it should have in our system of laws. For life to be precious, it must have value. The taking of innocent life creates a vacuum that must be accounted for if life is still to have value and be precious.
If a convicted murderer has a salvation experience while incarcerated and truly repents, I will be glad for that. But there is still a temporal penalty to pay.
Double murderer Dominick Occhicone has been stealing oxygen for 39 years. It’s way past time he stop.
Before he lopped off the poor sap's head Giovanni offered him or her a pinch of snuff as a final earthly comfort.
In Florida the inmate can request in writing to be executed by electrocution.....funny none have ever made that request.
Unlike their victim(s) who not only didn’t have that choice, and weren’t given the choice to live either.
Just do it. The age doesn’t matter, especially when the guy committed the crime in 1987.
Why? Does he mean there should be more executions? What’s the “rupture to the system”?

Both convicted murderers of family members-— crimes committed 39 years ago.... 39 YEARS! Convictions and sentencing within a year after.
So these creeps against death penalty kept stalling all these years— at great cost to the State of Florida. They should live no longer for the horrors they committed on their own family members. This priest of course is in the perpetuation of his own “career” .
In this case, drawing and quartering would be appropriate.

The only rupture to the system is that its taken this long. These men should have been executed decades ago. Then again, I’m proud that my native Florida led the nation in executions last year with 19. We’ve given 10 a dirt nap so far this year - it’ll be 12 after today.

Nigeria has a 7-day time for an appeal for a crime using a gun.
the only botched execution is one where the convict lives.
