2 men scheduled to be put to death in Florida Tuesday in rare double execution (One is an 80 year old man)

Two Florida death row inmates are scheduled to be executed hours apart on Tuesday, which would mark the first time in more than six decades the state puts to death multiple people within a single day, as state officials continue to ramp up executions.

“I’m not shocked anymore by the number of death warrants that are being signed, but it struck me as a kind of rupture to the system that we would execute two people within six hours from one another,” said Father Dustin Feddon, a Catholic priest who has been visiting prisoners on Florida’s death row for more than a decade.

Feddon currently ministers to James Duckett, who is scheduled to be executed at noon on Tuesday. Duckett has spent more than three decades on death row after being convicted of murdering 11-year-old Teresa McAbee in 1987.

Hours after Duckett’s death, the state plans to execute Dominick Occhicone, an 80-year-old man who would be the second octogenarian ever executed in the US death penalty’s modern era, according to data from the Death Penalty Information Center (DPIC). He was convicted of double murder in 1987 for killing his former girlfriend’s parents, Raymond and Martha Artzner.

30 years on death row is a travesty.

That dirtbag lived 30 years too long. Why is he still breathing?

Eighty years old isn’t jack. If the boy was 100, that would be a different story.

He was convicted of double murder in 1987 for killing his former girlfriend’s parents, Raymond and Martha Artzner.

This convicted murderer killed two people on the same day ... what's the problem with killing two murderers on the same day ... decades after they committed their murders?

I reserve my sympathy for Teresa McAbee, Raymond Artzner, and Martha Artzner, whose lives were cut short by murdering dirtbags.

I always love a doubleheader. Not all that common anymore. Keep your ticket stub in case of rain.

That’s right CNN. Try to create some sympathy for the poor 80-year-old who is being executed. They make it sound like someone’s grandpa is being killed. As a reminder, here is how Wikipedia describes Dominick Occhicone who killed his ex-girlfriend’s parents in a rage over a breakup that they had nothing to do with.

“Occhicone wielded his gun and shot [the father] in the face, and he broke through a locked door, and began to chase Gerrety through the house, but Gerrety escaped the house with her daughter. As for Martha [the mother], who was also inside the house, she was shot four times by Occhicone, including three gunshot wounds to the chest. “

“Both inmates have filed lawsuits seeking to halt their executions, including one who argues they could suffer so-called “botched” executions because of the compressed timeline. Those appeals remain pending”.

Executions today at noon. Pending cases will be heard Wednesday.

Although the majority of those on death row are Negroes, the majority of executions are of
whites. Why? Because Negro agitators raise such a stink. I'm thinking of cop killer Wesley Cook,
aka Mumia Apu-Jamal.

I assume this is by lethal injection. Does anyone know what method Florida uses?

Lethal injection or the electric chair.

The method of execution in Florida is determined by state law, which primarily allows lethal injection as the default method, but also permits electrocution if requested by the inmate. The Governor issues a warrant for execution, which specifies the method to be used.

According to a quick wwweb search, nitrogen and firing squad are also specifically allowed.

And all that time he cost thousands and thousands a year to the taxpayers.

One of the first victims’ rights organization women was allowed to visit the prison (now “correctional facility”) where her husband’s murderer was living. As she toured she was shocked at how the inmates had the— at that time — new high speed internet connections on desktop computers better than hers or her school where she taught.

She saw laughing guys kidding around as they shot hoops outside. Others used gym equipment and heavy barbell equipment as good as her paid for gym near her home. Others just relaxed watching the big screen TV or leafing through magazines.

Not a bad life if they accepted it, some for much shorter sentences than the cliche “he’s going away for a long time” said after a trial.

Age has absolutely no bearing on the execution (pun intended) of his sentencing.

CNN only brings it up to continue the pushing of suicidal empathy.
