And that should scare every single red blooded American.

Why?

“helps me be a better coder.”

How? I’m a programmer. Specifically how does it help you lay down statements in your programming language? C++?

And you actually know the research is thorough? And comprehensive?

Or are you just accepting the results?

I’ve essentially moved from being a lone coder to becoming a project manager working with a team of coders. I’ve developed some significant web apps that are currently being used by websites that have millions of daily views.

The best way to find out for yourself it to just give it a try. I’d encourage you to start with Claude Desktop, go to the Code tab, and enter a prompt.

If your question was rhetorical, please tell me now. Thanks.

AI is really pretty stupid when issues get beyond a fairly routine level of complexity.

Fixed it.

“I’ve essentially moved from being a lone coder”

Lines of code are what’s fed into the computer. Where do the lines of code come from?

The code resides on my laptop. It’s generated by Claude Code. I push the code to my GitHub repository, which is synced with Railway.

Is that helpful?

Again, if you’re serious (and it kinda feels like you’re being adversarial) I’ll continue the conversation. But if you’re just asking cynical, rhetorical questions, please let me know and I’ll stop entertaining them.

I also use it to evaluate my code. I might have a function or plugin, and I upload it to ChatGPT or Claude and ask for it to evaluate the code, or to find a bug.

Or I upload lines from my site’s error log, and have it suggest what caused the problems.

A great use: I use Charles Proxy to monitor activity on a site, to find the source of a malicious redirect. And once I get the malicious redirect, I give ChatGPT to Charles Proxy log files, and it finds the source of the malicious redirect.

I’ve used Claude to build a WordPress plugin that exposes scripts and other stuff that is normally hidden from view. And then I use Claude in Chrome to diagnose what might be going on on the site — high res images in the post listing page, conflicting scripts, a misplaced character in the functions file, and so on.

I really could go on ...

“I also use it to evaluate my code. “

Wow! You’re into stuff that’s not in my world. I write in C++ using Keil: https://studio.keil.arm.com/auth/login .

Code storage (using GitHub), compiles, links are done in the cloud. Uses MBED library. Executable is downloaded to my computer where I pump it into my device. All of that is free!

This is a post-career “hobby”.
