We’ve all seen those awful videos where someone is being beaten, robbed, or attacked in broad daylight while the people nearby stand around filming it on their phones for clicks and engagement.
More and more people are afraid to get involved, and honestly, you can’t entirely blame them. Look at what happened to Daniel Penny when he stepped in to help. The city of New York tried to destroy his life.
Still, it says something terrible about the state of our society when good men are afraid to take that risk. Meanwhile, the victim is left suffering while strangers collect footage for social media.
But that’s not what happened here…
When a woman was stabbed outside a building in the Bronx, three men didn’t stand there filming it from a safe distance, they rushed right into the danger, took the attacker, beat him up good, tossed him to the ground, and held him there until police arrived.
And they stood guard near the gravely injured woman on the steps, making sure nobody disturbed her.
Sadly, she didn’t survive the stabbing.

Kitty Genovese was raped and stabbed to death in front of her apartment house in Queens New York in the 1960. It was later learned 37 people witnessed the attack. Not a single person called the police. The intervening men did well. Too bad someone’s thumb didn’t accidentally poke an eye out.
I think he was talking about the movie “Citizen Vigilante” which was more or less, a European version of Death Wish I through IV plus the Bruce Willis remake

Kitty was attacked and raped and murdered. The NYT chose to ignore the fact that people DID contact the police about this and ignored this information because they wanted a compelling headline. (The police may have ignored the callers.)
