Oh yes, I remember that scene. Those were the Laestrygonians in medieval armor fighting bronze age Greeks with Roman gladiuses, who were trying to escape run back to their Viking longships. What a goofy film!
My opposition has been from the moment I began to learn about how they cast the movie, and the things that come out of the mouse of the actors that were cast indicated to me that the casting was done to optimize the chances of an Oscar nomination for one, and for two, the characters discussions of their interpretations of their roles indicated that they viewed it widely as a woke interpretation. On both counts, I was repulsed by both the pandering and the woke comments.
This asinine pandering comment further validates my impressions I reached without even seeing the movie. I am sure Matt Damon meant that as an off-the-cuff comment, but those who suspect this movie had the cast of a modern feminist interpretation of Homer's work probably smelled the stench of that comment as proof quite readily.
It was a great disappointment to me to reach this conclusion, as I have wanted to see a interpretation of the Odyssey on large screen for years as it is one of my favorite books…I have read it and listened to it somewhere between five and 10 times.
I have always hoped against who that someone would make a version of it that was worthy of watching, because CGI could really do it justice if done correctly. I never could stomach the old version that looked like the monsters were portrayed using claymation. Of course, I understand Christopher Nolan is famously against CGI to a degree, but had to use it in some ways for obvious purposes.

Yep, I heard they were pushing diversity , by having a black woman as Helen of Troy, and that transgender girl playing the part of a boy.
I’ve heard that the people who run the Oscars have established diversity criteria, as being important to be considered for Oscars. Is this true? Do they get brownie points, because they have a transgender?
But then, is the transgender girl supposed to be playing the part of a transgender in the story, or is it just that we all know that she is transgender in real life? And that’s why we are supposed to be happy about her role in this movie?
I have not researched the Oscar criteria, but I have heard that they do have diversity standards now.
Movies need to fill diversity quotas to qualify for awards. Blacks and women are key.
