News on Monday that late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) sister, now Sen. Darline Graham Nordone (R-SC), will seek a full term in office after replacing her brother was not welcome by many conservative and MAGA influencers.
Nordone made the announcement in an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity.
“I feel like I can do it. I feel an inner peace about it. Will it be difficult? Yes, absolutely,” Nordone, who has never held elected office before, said about running.
“So you’re inclined to get in? Or have you even made a final decision?” Hannity followed up.
“I’ve made a decision — I’m in,” Nordone declared.
Nordone was appointed to the seat with the blessing of President Donald Trump, who urged South Carolina’s GOP governor to make the move. Many on the right, however, appeared unconvinced of her conservative bona fides.
“Hard pass. Birthright senatorship is idiotic,” reacted Sean Davis, the CEO of the Federalist, to the news.
Ex-Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) added, “Trump continues to fill the Swamp with the worst congressional creatures, including his predictable endorsement of Darline Graham. Are there worse criteria than 1) family name, and 2) pledged unconditional and unconstitutional allegiance and obedience to the president?”

For a guy who has been pledging to drain the swamp for 10 years, Trump has a consistent track record of endorsing swamp creatures. The only swamp creatures he opposes are those who he is in personal combat with. It’s never about agenda.
This is ridiculous, and indicative of Trump’s poor judgment in these matters. He’s more concerned about being liked and doing something nice for Lindsey, than he is about getting his agenda passed. Nobody should be surprised when Lindsey’s sister turns out to be Lindsey.
huh? MAGA loved Lindsey Graham. Why not more of the same?
Trump is the one pushing for Darline. He is generally right but in this case, it could be misplaced loyalty. Trump also called Lindsay Graham one of the greatest US Senators in history, which clealy is a lie or a mistake, so I think Trump’s emotions are blinding him.
I really don’t know how well he knews Darline. She may indeed be an amazing and nice person, but if she is not a conservative pitbull, then I don’t want her. The seat needs a principled conservative who will add to the right side of the Senate isle.
We don’t need another RINO. She has no history to vet. This is like Amy Coney Barrett all over again. “She seems fine” but an unknown can’t be counted upon. South Carolina needs to elect a Senator with a solid conservative track record, not a blank slate we know nothing about.
This is foolish.

We have been calling him Lindsey Grahmnesty for a long time.
Liberty Score gave Lindsey Graham an F, voting liberal 55% of the time.
Heritage gave Graham a lifetime 60% score vs 80% being the average for Senate Republicans. Graham wasn’t even close to average for a Senate Republican. He was very low.
Not abysmal like Lisa Murkowski and Olympia Snowe, but well below average for the Senate GOP.
How about we raise the bar a little bit and make sure this SC Senate seat goes to a genuine principled conservative with a strong track record rather than the unknown sister of a Deep State RINO.

Let her run. I have no problem with her running for the seat. But it chafes my ass that Trump is pushing this.

It’s quite a leap to think that somehow this seat is at risk.
From the comments it seems some folks aren’t aware the GOP special primary will be held in less than a month. Either lightning strikes for Darlene and she wins the special primary or she’s back to doing charity work in January.
Meanwhile there is a conservative businessman named Mark Lynch who ran an effective statewide campaign but finished second to Lindsey Graham in June who is already on the ground again running.

Did we forget about Alaska’s Senator Lisa Murkowski? She was appointed to the Senate by her father, who resigned his seat in 2002 to become Alaska’s governor. Murkowski’s appointment was not because of a death, but it was a family deal called a nepotism.
Trump claims he knows her very well. But, Trump does tend to exaggerate. OTOH, I suspect his #1 criteria these days is loyalty.
