News on Monday that late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) sister, now Sen. Darline Graham Nordone (R-SC), will seek a full term in office after replacing her brother was not welcome by many conservative and MAGA influencers.
Nordone made the announcement in an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity.
“I feel like I can do it. I feel an inner peace about it. Will it be difficult? Yes, absolutely,” Nordone, who has never held elected office before, said about running.
“So you’re inclined to get in? Or have you even made a final decision?” Hannity followed up.
“I’ve made a decision — I’m in,” Nordone declared.
Nordone was appointed to the seat with the blessing of President Donald Trump, who urged South Carolina’s GOP governor to make the move. Many on the right, however, appeared unconvinced of her conservative bona fides.
“Hard pass. Birthright senatorship is idiotic,” reacted Sean Davis, the CEO of the Federalist, to the news.
Ex-Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) added, “Trump continues to fill the Swamp with the worst congressional creatures, including his predictable endorsement of Darline Graham. Are there worse criteria than 1) family name, and 2) pledged unconditional and unconstitutional allegiance and obedience to the president?”

Nepotism
The practice of using power or influence to grant advantages, jobs, or privileges to family members, regardless of their qualifications. It most commonly occurs in business, politics, and the entertainment industry, often leading to resentment and the exclusion of more qualified candidates.
“I think the truth of the matter is that Darline has so far been off to a remarkable start,” Tim Scott told reporters, asking about her as a possible special primary contender. “‘Why not her?’ would be my question.”
This is an intelligence test for voters. If they fail, it will be hard to have any hope for the future of the government.
Mel Carnahan’s widow did the same thing, and she wasn’t very skilled or qualified. Nordone has a resume with charity work, has some credentials. Let’s see.
Really bad.
She’s entitled to run. I wouldn’t hold her bloodline against her but the sentiment that it’s time for a change is understandable. That’s why we have primaries.
If she wants to run outright, she should refuse the temp. appointment, resign, and let the voters decide in the primary election. Meanwhile, someone else can fill the seat.
I thought she was tapped entirely due to NOT wanting the job long term.
oh my- all the shrieks! i do believe people of SC (not Free Republic) will VOTE - in the primary and in the mid-terms. they know more about her than anyone here.

Making an issue of it right now is idiotic.
The. Most. Important. Thing. We. Need. Right. Now. Is. The. SAVE. Act.
She's a guaranteed vote for that. She may never do another worthwhile thing with the seat after that, but if the SAVE act passes, we will likely get 6-10 more Senators and she won't matter anymore.
For the benefit we would get, it is worth it, and we should just shut up and let it happen.

Political nepotism is how we get monsters like Lisa Murkowski.
So acccording to your reasoning, if she is elected and the Save Act doesn’t pass, electing her would be a big mistake.
For crying out loud - she’s a placekeeper. If she happens to prove herself to be particularly good at the job, then she can run and possibly win.

Cant really call her part of the swamp since NO ONE knows what the heck she actually believes in. I dont think she would win anyway, putting her in now was a nice gesture for her brother, but to have the role permanently, thats not going to happen. My bet is that Norman is the nominee
She should not run. Trump should stop with the primary endorsements in my opinion.
