News on Monday that late Sen. Lindsey Graham’s (R-SC) sister, now Sen. Darline Graham Nordone (R-SC), will seek a full term in office after replacing her brother was not welcome by many conservative and MAGA influencers.
Nordone made the announcement in an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity.
“I feel like I can do it. I feel an inner peace about it. Will it be difficult? Yes, absolutely,” Nordone, who has never held elected office before, said about running.
“So you’re inclined to get in? Or have you even made a final decision?” Hannity followed up.
“I’ve made a decision — I’m in,” Nordone declared.
Nordone was appointed to the seat with the blessing of President Donald Trump, who urged South Carolina’s GOP governor to make the move. Many on the right, however, appeared unconvinced of her conservative bona fides.
“Hard pass. Birthright senatorship is idiotic,” reacted Sean Davis, the CEO of the Federalist, to the news.
Ex-Rep. Bob Good (R-VA) added, “Trump continues to fill the Swamp with the worst congressional creatures, including his predictable endorsement of Darline Graham. Are there worse criteria than 1) family name, and 2) pledged unconditional and unconstitutional allegiance and obedience to the president?”

Why not her?
Well for starters, Tim Scott thinks it’s a good idea.
Who is fuming ? If you don’t like her don’t vote for her.
Support from the RNC, SC-GOP and Trump for Graham's sister may seem like nepotism but ultimately the voters of SC will make the final decision.
And who said Trump was not smart...He loves her...
I assume she would get a number of sympathy votes, but believe the majority of South Carolinians would vote for the most capable candidate to represent their interests in the Senate. I don’t think that would be Darline.

If she runs and wins I have no problem with it. She’s certainly as qualified as any whack-job Dem (a low bar I know…).

I’m sure the McCain’s are trying to work something out with her for whatever support she needs.
I said from the start.. When Trump first floated the idea, that this would happen.

She’s Lindsey Graham’s sister, so she’ll most likely be another RINO, or even worse than Lindsey. Terrible idea by Trump.
Mel Carnahan’s widow did the same thing, and she wasn’t very skilled or qualified. Nordone has a resume with charity work, has some credentials. Let’s see.
Jean Carnahan ran two years later into the term and had created a record. (She was appointed to fill the seat he was elected to, but had not yet been sworn in — FYI, he died just before the election and she was named as the replacement for the election he then won posthumously. Two years later she ran for the require replacement election and lost a close race to Republican Jim Talent.)
South Carolina is a red state. Her competition isn’t Democrat.
you’re right. we do know after 47 met and chatted with her he moved from approving her as an interim appointment to an enthusiastic endorsement for the full term. i assume that after the funerals, when it is appropriate,much will be revealed. the governor knows her, too. he is plenty conservative. for now i hope the poor woman can mourn. what a whirlwind she has been in after a huge shock. give her that, everyone.

all the Democrats in SC will also be voting in the OPEN primary... but let’s just gloss over the fact that we just handed the Rats control over another senate seat.
People are rightfully pissed about this. Truth is these Senators, no matter what state they come from, affect all of us in this country.
This was a really cheesy thing to do and reflects poorly on the republicans. Not that they care about the voters at all. I hope she loses.
