I’ve had encounters with the Yellowstone bison while traveling with my German shepherd in 1994. He went bonkers whenever he saw the bison.

I went to Yellowstone, Grand Teton, and Theodore Roosevelt NPs in May 2026, and my current German shepherd saw them but did not do anything. I was concerned the bison would react each time thinking they were wolves or coyotes, but they did nothing.

Like most people, I don’t wanna poke fun at the guy who got thrown in the air… He was in the wrong place at the wrong time and I didn’t believe fault him for that…

But that was pretty darn funny! Isn’t it amazing what AI can do these days amazing and a little scary…but that is indeed the world we live in today, so we have to keep our heads screwed tightly on our shoulders when it’s something other than entertainment!

IMO- the bison gave the old man lots of time to run when he was scratching himself. The old man looked like he was playing hide and seek with a child or something. Freaking idiot.

it appeared that the white truck got the bison’s attention and he started toward it, but it left quickly and the old guy was next in line.

I am a few years older than that guy, and I am trying to imagine how frightening that must have been...

It is one thing to get in the path of an animal and have it kind of go for you, but to have it actively seeking you out, replete with the hooves and the snorts...

Stuff of nightmares for sure.
