A video is going viral from a small seaside town in Italy’s Marche region, and it’s easy to see why.
The clip shows a foreigner blocking traffic in the middle of the street while behaving erratically. That’s when Giuseppe Barboni strolled into the scene with a gelato cone in hand. Barboni isn’t exactly some random passerby. He’s a major player in Italy’s luxury services sector, was named to the Forbes Top 100, and is reportedly running for mayor in San Benedetto del Tronto.
Barboni tried talking to the man while calmly finishing his ice cream. From what can be heard in the video, the exchange grew tense as Barboni attempted to get him out of the street.
According to ChatGPT, the foreign man was yelling something like this:

After trying to reason with the man while eating his gelato, Barboni finally took his last bite and decided enough was enough. The foreigner still wouldn’t leave the middle of the street, so Barboni took matters into his own hands, literally, and dropped the guy like a sack of potatoes.

Now, people are wondering if this will help or hurt Bardoni’s political aspirations. He’s reportedly running on a platform centered on local security, law and order, and urban decorum, so if that’s the case, this incident might actually help him.

Many online comments indicated the locals are worried about their small sea towns and don’t want them turning into third-world hellholes. If Bardoni taps into that fear, frustration, and anger, he will probably go far in politics.
