A man's 'dream property' in Oregon turned into a nightmare after he found more than 50,000 tires dumped on his land.
Khanh Tran, a soon-to-be father, purchased a 1.2-acre property in April where he hired contractors to build his new home in Portland, according to KATU.
Tran had agreed to remove a small pile of about 50 tires on the land, but when he returned in June with a contractor, the pile had become an ocean of rubber.
Footage showed stacks of tires in mountains several feet high that the homeowner estimates are anywhere between 50,000 and 75,000.
'It was a nightmare when I saw it,' Tran told OPB.
'It stressed me out so much. I didn't know what to do. I couldn't sleep for the first few days of that.'
The sea of rubber has sparked a probe by the Multnomah County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating potential trespassing and 'offensive littering.'
Unfortunately, the dumping has delayed Tran's plans, but it hasn't deterred him from fulfilling his dreams.
'I'm not giving up. No way,' said Tran to KGW8. 'This is my home.'
He launched a GoFundMe not only to remove the tires but also to help restore the environment damaged by the thousands of pounds of rubber.
Trans has raised nearly $5,000 as of this report and is aiming to reach its $50,000 goal.
'The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office treats public safety and environmental hazards with the utmost seriousness,' an MCSO spokesperson said in a statement.

There is a scam going on in government. Whenever I purchase new tires I get charged for their end of life disposal, then I am charged for disposal of the old tires I am changed ng out. Clearly the money isn’t going to tire disposal. Some of the tires look like they could be recapped.

Going back a few years I can relate 2 true stories -
Guy I knew bought a property with the intent to flip it after a remodel. About 3 acres of land with a house and a barn. And a couple of junk cars. He arranges for someone to get the cars off the property only to find out there was another car buried under the others. So they dig that one up and find another. And another. And another.
In the end there were 15 vehicles buried in that spot.
And the same thing happened to a good friend of mine. Had a smaller 1/2 acre lot and wanted to build an Ohana (mother-in law unit). Got an excavator in to dig some underground utilities and they found 3 cars buried.
Side effect of over burdnsome eco nazi rules. They overcharge for something that used to be cheap, hence some shops have resorted to illegal disposal.
A common trick is to rent a storage unit, fill it with tires and stop paying on it. The month’s rent that you get charged on leasing, is much cheaper than disposing the tires that fill the unit.

Tires come with serial numbers, track them from the manufacturer to wholesaler to retailer to customer and find out where they had the tires changed. with all those tires a pattern should appear and common culprits should emerge.

Yes, y’all really did do that and caused minor to severe injuries to kids cut up by the steel in the tire ‘crumbs’..
Then y’all tried to pass off the ground up tires as landscape mulch after painting them what ever color you like bought suckers would buy.
Having beds of pretty painted rubber embedded with sharp strands of steel was/is a danger for man/child/animal.
All tires dumped with the cover of night? In one night? Surely, somebody had to notice the activity. I would guess that there are tire recyclers who would haul it away for free.

I live on small ranch. I have a total of 27 tires here on vehicles & equipment.
I also found out that they charge that fee—both coming & going.
I keep a copy of tire invoices in my vehicle. Next time I might show them that I already paid the disposal fee.
