Breitbart ^ | 13 Jul 2026 | Neil Munro

Posted on 07/14/2026 4:16:43 AM PDT by Skwor

“Legal immigration… in many ways, is actually worse than illegal immigration” for ordinary Americans, Rep. Riley Moore (R-WV) told Breitbart News Saturday. Politically, “I think the tide is turning, and you know, as I’m speaking with my colleagues, and more and more are starting to voice the concerns around this” legalized inflow, Moore told host Matthew Boyle.

I agree, shut it all down, let's have at least 10-year pause and then revisit any immigration.

We need ten years (at least) to absorb the people here and kick out the illegals.

I heard Rush saying that the US stopped all immigration from 1924 to 1964. The purpose was to allow the immigrants to assimilate and become Americans.

It’s true. No reason why we can’t revert to that same solution.

Yes, there is too mnuch of both moigrations to this nation, as both bring in enemies of this nation at an elevated rate. Same goes for H-1B visas.

“...US stopped all immigration from 1924 to 1964....”

America is a Christian (Presbyterian, Church of England, Puritan) union founded on the Calvinist principles of the Scottish Reformation and Scottish Enlightenment.

Read the Declaration of Independence.

It requires the adherence to the values in those theologies to operate.
High trust culture, merit based, respect for rights/property.

NO other cultures share these values.

Allowing immigration from hive, Muzzie and savage nations dilutes that culture. Diveversity is not strength. It is weakness.

NO polyglot empire has been successful longterm, and exists only by terror.

The Emergency Quota Act of 1921 was the First U.S. law to impose numerical limits on immigration.

It set annual quotas at 3% of each nationality’s foreign-born population in the U.S. as of the 1910 Census.

Limited total immigration from outside the Western Hemisphere to roughly 350,000–358,000 per year.

Extended a couple of times but intended as a short-term measure while Congress developed a permanent policy.

It significantly reduced inflows, especially from Southern and Eastern Europe.

Next up was the Immigration Act of 1924 (Johnson-Reed Act) — the main, lasting law.
Signed May 26, 1924.
Made restrictions permanent and much stricter.
Initially set quotas at 2% of each nationality’s U.S. population based on the 1890 Census (intentionally chosen to favor Northern and Western Europeans over newer arrivals from Southern/Eastern Europe).

Later shifted (fully effective 1929) to a “national origins” formula based on the 1920 Census, with an overall annual cap around 150,000 for the Eastern Hemisphere.

Completely banned immigration from most of Asia (except for a tiny number of exceptions like students or certain professionals).

Western Hemisphere immigration (e.g., from Mexico, Canada, Latin America) was largely exempt from the quotas.

Introduced the modern visa system — immigrants now had to obtain a visa from a U.S. consulate abroad before traveling.

Created the U.S. Border Patrol.

It created the post WWII America we grew up in....the resulting labor shortage drove wages higher and created a strong middle class.......another requirement of American/Republican liberty.

While focus is always on the H1Bs taking jobs the real targets evade scrutiny while laughing all the way to the bank: the employers and their lobbyists/legislators who keep that cheap labor flowing.

They’re just as lowly as the chicken factory owners and construction contractors using illegal alien workers, just better dressed and connected.

“I agree, shut it all down, let’s have at least 10-year pause and then revisit any immigration.”

Ted Kennedy got paid good money to push the Hart-Celler act through and now you want yo waste his efforts. The reason for the act was to destroy this country and it’s working.

“We need ten years (at least) to absorb the people here and kick out the illegals.”

Half the ones that are here legally should never have been let in.

The United States severely restricted legal migration, though it did not completely halt all legal entry with the Immigration Act of 1924, motivated to rewind the country’s demographic mix and the assimilation of existing immigrant communities.

The push to curtail immigration to manage assimilation was most visible during the early 20th century, culminating in the 1920s.

The 1924 National Origins Quota AKA the Johnson-Reed Act, established numerical limits based on national origin. It reduced the total allowable quota based on the 1890 census (before large waves of Southern and Eastern Europeans arrived) to preserve American homogeneity.

The 1924 Asiatic Act essentially excluded anyone “ineligible to citizenship,” completely halting the migration of most Asians to the US.

The Goal of Assimilation: Supporters were influenced by the 1907-1910 Dillingham Commission, arguing that a “pause” in mass immigration was necessary to successfully assimilate the 25 million-plus newcomers who arrived between 1880 and 1920.

These stayed in place until they were repealed by the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, which shifted the focus back to family reunification and labor skills, radically altering the demographics of legal immigration.-—NIH

At this point we need to close all vectors and worry later about the small minority of possible positive immigration.

You have to get control of the bleeding before you can dress it up for a cleaner looking heal.

Shouldn’t be any Muslims or Hindus since their culture is too alien for Western civilization.
No immigrant should be able to collect a penny of welfare (including their children)
Until we get that problem fixed we need to stop all immigration

Shut down all immigration for at least 10 years (I support 25) and then when it starts up again, use strict parameters for acceptance ie:

1) No muslims
2) no sick people
3) must have a marketable skill - no crop pickers
4) speak fluent USA English
5) high school education minimum
6) have sponsor

Many of these requirements were in place when Ellis Island opened. Time to reinstate them all.
