A Kansas couple allegedly left their six children, including two infants, in a hot car while they dined at a fast food chain on one of the most scorching days of the year, according to reports and authorities.
Temperatures climbed near the triple digits in the city on Wednesday, with a heat index of over 100 degrees.
Emergency responders evaluated the children on the scene. It’s unclear if any of them suffered heat-related illnesses. The kids were later brought into protective custody, the outlet reported.
Chad Scoville from the Salina Fire Department warned that children are more vulnerable to the heat than adults, especially inside vehicles where temperatures can quickly become dangerous.
“A child’s body temperature rises three to five times faster than adults’,” Scoville told KWCH. “They just do not have the same regulating capabilities that an adult does.”
“Temperatures can reach deadly levels inside cars within minutes,” Scoville said. “Anything can happen at any time, even if you think you’re going to be minutes — that could turn into an hour. We simply do not want to leave unattended children or pets in unattended vehicles. Period.”
Leaving a window cracked open in a car is not enough to protect kids, according to the CDC.
Temperatures inside a car can rise almost 20 degrees Fahrenheit within the first 10 minutes, even with a window left open.
Children who are left unattended in parked cars are at the greatest risk for heat stroke and possibly death, the agency said.

Does Wingstop take SNAP?
I thought that was Matt Damon.
They could have at least wiped the jerk sauce off her face!
So, how were the wings?

It’s weird that when we were kids in the 70’s we often stayed in the car on hot summer days while mom went shopping for 15 or more minutes. Of course, the windows were left down, as there was much LESS worry of abduction and other crimes in public, but no one batted an eye about seeing this.
Oh my!
Poor Squid.
Did they bring any wings to the poor kids? Ffs.
A “Kansas couple.”
I thought this kind of stuff only happened at Waffle House. What gives? ;)
“Dined” and “Wingstop” do not belong in the same sentence.
DINED? at wingstop? This trigger stuff needs to be call3d out. No normal person “DInes” at a fast food place. They ate there. Sheese. Unless you are a left tard trying to spin your poor food choices. P.s did Steve Martin write this article, because its hilarious
I don’t care for it. Tenders have replaced fried chicken as an important part of my balanced diet. I find Wingstop’s little nuggets overpriced and unappealing
Why do people like this have any children at all? I take much better care of my cats!
Just bad breeding stock. The herd really does need a good culling. Sounds a little Arian doesn’t it? Truth hurts, not all ideas are bad.
Costco now sells wings at their concession stands. They are HUGE; four for about $6.00. They are great.
Parents are scary looking. Keep children isolated from them.
