Named Rimrock Draw, the site - which was thought to have once been an ancient rock shelter - is now believed to date back a staggering 18,250 years. University of Oregon researchers working at the site unearthed two stone tools made from orange agate as well as extinct camel and bison teeth.

By Radiocarbon dating the enamel from the teeth, it was possible to determine how old they were.

"This early date aligns well with the oral histories of the tribal nations in the region, many of whom have stories about witnessing geological events like the Missoula floods, a series of events that changed everything for the tribes between 18,000 and 15,000 years ago,"

Are these the native Americans we stole the land from or was it so-called Native Americans who stole the land.

In the title:dates back 18,250 years...

pretty odd. Couldn't they narrow it down and pin it to a specific century?

Guaran-damn-tee that this was first used to make jewelry for wifey, and when it became difficult to to scavenge they had to invent tools for digging and killing, otherwise wifey says “No snu snu!”

You can go to missula montana and see on the mountainsides what look like many bathroom rings. those record multiple flood and fill events that went on for many milleniums. the latest were only about 9 thousand years ago.

I believe I’v read articles that state that there is an earlier cave in the area identified with early humans that dates back to roughly 21000 bc.

——————————————————————————————There are human tracks at White Sands in New Mexico that credibly date back to about 21,500 years ago. Lots of them. Found in old dry lakebeds.

Don't you love it when millionaires lecture us about stolen land when they live in mansions on that "stolen land"?

I always wanted to ask someone like Billie Eilish when she is going to donate her stolen land to the Indians and ask her if she leaves her door open for anyone to walk in off the street and stay as long as they like. If someone did that I don't even need to guess the cops would be there in 2 seconds. Hypocrisy is like a religion to the left.

The oldest evidence of humans in North America are foot prints in White Sands, New Mexico.

Radiocarbon dating of plant seeds in the same soil is 21,000 to 23,000 years ago.

The fossil and DNA record of humans in North America is quite rare between 23,000 and 8,000 years ago.

One theory - most settlers lived on the Pacific Coast, which flooded away when glaciers began to melt.

My hilltop about 150 vertical feet above the Willamette River upstream (South) from Portland Oregon was scoured down to bedrock in those Missoula floods. They deposited all our good soil into the next holler. So we’re called “Oak Grove” because there’s usually only < 10,000 years worth of dirt here, white oaks will grow, but you have to go about 1/2 mile further south into the holler (“River Forest”) to get enough of our ancient dirt to grow Douglas Fir.

I love my bedrock art out the window. G-d made a bird bath right outside my breakfast nook!

Oregon and Washington never progressed in brain power since that era.

End of the Clovis Age was 12,500 years, more or less.
