Dennis Quaid lists Brentwood Hills home as actor flees to Tennessee

Dennis Quaid is making his break from California official with the listing of his longtime Brentwood home after relocating full time to Tennessee.

“The Parent Trap” star has listed his 4,100-square-foot manse at 2536 Pesquera Drive in Brentwood Hills for $5.2 million, Realtor.com reported. The actor put the five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bathroom home on the market nearly a decade after buying it for $3.9 million and completing an extensive renovation of the property

The listing comes just weeks after Quaid publicly criticized California’s taxes, government services and wildfire response, saying those frustrations helped drive his move to Nashville.

“It used to be such a great town and the ’90s was nice. And then it’s been kind of going downhill and I feel like people pay these taxes for no services is what it gets down to,” the Texas native told Fox News last month. “I’m just one of thousands who have left.”

Quaid and his wife, Laura Savoie, have primarily lived in Nashville since 2020 but have held onto the Los Angeles property and traveled between the two states. Now, the listing appears to sever his last major residential tie to California.

Last year’s Palisades fire, which forced Quaid to evacuate his Brentwood home, appears to have been the last straw for him. He participated in the “They Let Us Burn” protests and called on Mayor Karen Bass to retire in the wake of the fires, and went on to support former reality TV star Spencer Pratt in his failed Los Angeles mayoral primary election bid.

Why do they always connect Dennis to “The Parent Trap” as his defining role? He’s been in so much else.

I like Dennis Quaid, not just as an actor, but what I perceive in him personally from what I have seen in his public exposure. He has had personal problems of various kinds, but he sounds like he fought those instead of embracing them.

Of course the Vacation movies, but also in Independence Day where they ridiculed and laughed at him but he actually was describing the true alien abduction and learning human weakness for the coming invasion. Nobody listened.

One of his earliest lead roles was in Breaking Away (1979), one of my favorite movies.

I knew Randy Quaid it seems, and probably met Dennis, my stepbrother kept up some interaction with Randy over the years and knew Dennis, that was back in the Houston days.

Yep, four just-graduated teen-age friends - "cutters." Paul Dooley stole the show as cyclist Dave Stohler's used-car-salesman dad.

Dennis Quaid, is a class A butt hole. He was always cast in very flattering roles, but they are roles in a story. Under the reign of himself, he's a jerk. That said, he doesn't seem to lecture the rest of us, so I give him a free pass.

I used to be in the charter flight business. A good rule of thumb is that if they are famous and held in high esteem by the media and the public, you will not like what you see and experience. If they are frowned upon and keel hauled by the media, they are the most likeable people ever. There are exceptions, but rare and few.

I call it my "Reba MacIntyre rule". If they are old timey, I call it my "Andy Griffith rule".

Quaid would be wise to move to another Tennessee city.

Nashville is WAY over-developed. Property taxes are skyrocketing. Traffic is a nightmare. Pot-holed streets with “ speed cushions “ are ubiquitous.

The Mayor of Nashville aspires to be a mini-Mamdani.

Supported “the failed bid” by Spencer Pratt...ha. It was stolen with later bought and paid for ballots.

Front Brentwood, CA to Brentwood, TN (maybe). Welcome to the great state of Tennessee. The savings in state income tax alone may be a seven-figure boost.

Yes. In Memphis. The most surprising good soul, was Jesse Helms. He was with Elizabeth Dole and Howard Coble, for a trip. The Dole-Kemp 96 run was weird. Bob was kinda like Joe Biden, and his wife ran the show. Both nice though, but Bob was out there. Another shocker was Aerosmith. The band hates Tyler. When they land, Tyler rides in his own limousine separately than the band. They hate each other. Found out Woopie Goldberg real quick, too. Her entourage carried machine pistols. She’s a complete hypocrite.

Dennis has slowly shifted to being conservative over the years. I think that is as responsible for the move as the dissatisfaction with California.
