Crouere Column: GOP Base is Disgusted with Do-Nothing Congress
The Liberty Daily ^ | 07/06/2026 | Jeff Crouere

The midterm election is less than four months away, and Republicans hold majorities in both houses of Congress, yet their track record has been abysmal.

Other than the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” congressional Republicans have delivered little for their supporters. Republican voters are surely wondering why they gave the GOP the majority in both houses of Congress in the 2024 election. ADVERTISEMENT

President Donald Trump is doing everything he can, with a flurry of Executive Orders, but it is impossible to implement his ambitious agenda without the support of Congress.

This type of opposition occurred during his first term. Trump had a Republican Congress in his first two years. Other than the Trump tax cuts, Congress was unwilling to fund the President’s request for border wall construction and refused to end the nightmare known as the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare.

"Not surprisingly, a new poll by JL Partners for the Daily Mail shows that if the election were held today, 50% of American voters would support Democratic candidates, 42% would support Republican candidates, and 8% would be unsure. As Victoria Churchill of the Daily Mail notes, these results are a “blaring warning sign for Republicans.”

Yeah...but they ain't listening. They seem hell bent on losing.

Elected Republican officials are opposed to the Democrats - but they are MORE opposed to Trumo and his supporters.

THe GOP will die, and for the same reason as the UK Conservative Party.

When will Restore USA appear?

Correct. The base is disgusted with Congress. We voted for Trump, Congress is doing all they can to fight him. The Senate staying in session so Trump can’t make recess appointments of Federal officials is unconscionable, along with the Save Act B.S.

A do nothing GOP is far superior to anything the Democrats would do. Anyone voting Democrat now is a complete America hating POS.

Far too many Republican elected officials are actually moderate democrats. As the dems have moved farther and farther left, the moderate dems have become Republicans in order to be elected. Anyone who worships government as they do is NOT a Republican.

Thune was selected and mentored by Mitch McConnell to do exactly as he’s currently doing, and which is why he needs to be replaced as Majority leader and seriously challenged in his next re-election attempt.

It’s the “Republican” voters who put these inert clowns in place. So the way to remedy the Republican voter ignorance and apathy is to elect Democrats????

correct!!

a sickeningly dysfunctional congress

has forced POTUS to stretch the H3LL out of the “executive order” doctrine ... just to try getting ANYTHING accomplished at all

(and as we’ve seen, most of it is overruled anyway)

this is mostly the fault of the DemoNaziCommie voting “block” (disgusting but very effective nonetheless) AND the 4 or 5 RINOs that support it

Not sure what y’all are crying about, the (R)N(C) is doing just what they’ve said they’d do: “Conserve” (the statis quo)

The word ‘Constitution’, let alone phrase ‘smaller govt’, hasn’t been uttered but by a select few (whom most FR chastise/berate routinely)

How’s that “lesser of 2 evils (being more than the faux dichotomy on most/every ballot...but ya STILL pull that SAME lever every election)” working out again?

If the pubbies had 300 house seats and 60 senators they would still not accomplish anything meaningful

“let alone phrase ‘smaller govt’, hasn’t been uttered but by a select few”

________________________________________________________

The problem is that this phrase used to be uttered all the time by the GOP, yet we still got no border enforcement, corporate outsourcing to the long-term detriment of the nation, and a large standing military that the globalist couldn’t resist using in one wasteful imperialistic adventure after another. You’ll have to forgive some of us for not being enamored by the doublespeak any more.

The voter only get to vote Democrat or Republican, the corrupt party officials decide who those republicans on the ticket are. Sadly money decides all of it, hundreds of billions lost to fraud and no legislation to address it at all, because they all share in it.

Thune has to go....like yesterday

This is the state that sent Tom Daschle to the Senate from 1987-2005.

When Thune "goes", will his replacement be a Republican?
