The U.S. Coast Guard said “politically charged” messages led to the removal of an environmental group’s vessel from a fleet of sailing ships gathered in New ‌York on Saturday to celebrate the country’s 250th anniversary.

A ship owned by the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater environmental organization was forced out of the Sail4th 250 parade in New York Harbor, the Coast Guard said in a statement emailed to Reuters.

The ship had banners that read “Save the Clean Water Act” and “Indigenous Rights, Racial Justice, Climate Solutions”.

Participants in the event had agreed to refrain from displaying political or politically charged messages or statements, according to the Coast Guard, which said it enforced the agreement on behalf of Sail4th. …

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Perhaps we need the Coast Guard to move their activities to City Hall . . .

Leftists can’t help themselves. Everyone must be forced to listen to them.

I’m surprised none of them were flying Palestinian or Iranian flags.

I call it their “insufferable self righteousness.” It’s what causes them to disobey laws and rules, even those they’ve agreed to. Their so virtuous that they must be allowed to share their enlightenment with you

So then removing them was completely appropriate. Tough toenails, Reuters.

The Coast Guard should have sunk the boat. After giving a notice to evacuate, of course.

Oh, wait. Maybe that’s too extreme. How about just boarding the boat and declaring it a prize ship?

That’ll do.

Yes, and done so with a reproduction of the Turtle submarine, which ticks all the boxes for being 'green'.

Sad sack pubs such as Reuters always manage to find the trash at the bottom of the trash can.

One of Pete Seeger’s various Communist front groups.

https://www.clearwater.org/about/

Hudson River Sloop Clearwater is a member-supported, non-profit organization whose mission is to protect the Hudson River by stewarding an intergenerational community of river advocates through education, advocacy, sailing, and music.

In 1966, folk singer Pete Seeger and a group of activists decided to “build a boat to save the river,” envisioning that a sloop would bring people to the shoreline and inspire a movement to protect the Hudson River. Three years later, the sloop Clearwater set sail with a mission to save the Hudson through education, advocacy, and sailing. Since 1969, over half a million children and adults have experienced the Hudson River from aboard the Clearwater. . .

Sixty years ago, the Hudson River was near death from decades of industrial polluters. In 1966, folk musician and activist Pete Seeger was in despair over the pollution of his beloved Hudson River. After reading the seminal texts, A Silent Spring by Rachel Carson (1962) and Sloops of the Hudson by William Verplanck and Moses Collyer (1908), he announced plans to “build a boat to save the river” along with his wife, Toshi, and a dedicated group of fellow musicians and activists. They believed that a replica of the historic sloops that once sailed the Hudson would allow people to experience its beauty and be moved to preserve it.

Through decades of local organizing, Clearwater equipped Hudson River Valley communities with the most important resource to become active stewards of their environment — knowledge. In 2004, the sloop Clearwater was named to the National Register of Historic Places for its groundbreaking role in the environmental movement.

Since its launch in 1969, Clearwater has become a grassroots model for producing positive change – from advocacy education for grassroots groups to award-winning, place-based environmental programs for local youth, Clearwater empowers Hudson Valley communities to ensure that polluters are held accountable, industrial development curtailed, and laws enshrined to protect our river codified by local, state, and federal officials. . .

But, typically, the leftists pick and choose which agreements they will actually stick to.

Clearwater was owned by Comrade Peet Seeger, the Stalinist balladeer.

That boat is nothing more than a propaganda vehicle the elitist libtards hold dear to their wayward hearts. They love to poke sticks in eyes but when they get poked back they scream bloody murder. Somethings never change.
