Went and saw Supergirl with my comic loving teenager. Don’t know why other than the actresses comments in an interview this movie is being dissed around here. Nothing political. Comic loving son said character was pretty accurate. Go see it. Even pluggedin online said it was fine.
We should support the efforts toward normality. Last year’s Superman was really good and sort of old school hero. Same with this movie.
Nothing woke that I could find in it.

Thank you for that.
I’ll go with the Critical Drinker’s opinion. Hollywood trash doesn’t need our support.
$125 million loss speaks volumes.
I learned this lesson from Captain America.
When it came out everyone said it was woke garbage too. It wasn’t.
There is a not of money to be made generating clicks from older conservatives, and nothing sells clips like getting mad at those pesky kids and their rock and roll music.
Now get off my lawn.
Ok. Cool. but it doesn’t change the fact that unlike many Hollywood movies over the past decades, it never went political left.
Yeah…I remember that. Sort of makes us all look like pearl clutchers ranting and raving about stuff that didn’t happen.
I couldn’t sit through the last Superman. Too disjointed to me.
And the Marvel look with way too many characters. And the wonton destruction. One scene with several skyscrapers falling down? That’s hundreds of thousands of casualties.
Silly.
What you SHOULD know however is that to sell tickets in China, it has to contain a pro China message, and anti western messages.
The movie company will capitulate but releasing two versions of the movie.
In avengers Chinese releases the entire team was lead by Chinese masterminds in a high tech lab. Mission impossible and avengers age of Ultron have credit to two Chinese women who were really in it for one scene in America, but were lead roles in the Chinese version.
The movie companies deserve no positive critique. But it shouldn’t stop you from liking a movie.
Hell if it did I wouldn’t listen, watch or even read just about anything.

Supergirl “pitch meeting” from Youtube. 6 1/2 minutes of mockery of the plot.

Realize that “Red Dawn” was one of the first “Pro-China” movies in the 80s, where they mention that China was on our side against the Russians.
Not woke...
It is poorly written, poorly directed, poorly filmed intersectional feminist agitprop.
I grew up watching George Reeves as Superman.
Reading the comics.
Loved Chris Reeves. Dean Cain. Henry Cavill.
If I need a superhero fix, I know where to look.
I just saw the box office for cheap seats Tuesday.
It sucked.
No thanks. I hope it loses a billion dollars.
The only thing I liked about the last Superman movie was that it had Superdog in it. I’d watch a whole movie about Superdog, but otherwise forget it.
Superman was just ok.
Just checked the price for tickets at my local cinema.
$20 a seat, regular price.
In your dreams, Hollyweird.
Ditto with Disparu. They, and every other conservative movie critic have dissed this piece of Hollywood crappola.
Nonetheless, there will always be the ones who cannot see what they do not want to see.
$$ are the tell. If it were a decent movie they’d have a chance of attracting the usual watchers of super hero movies (aka masculine folks, not snowflakes) and make back the production costs at least. As it, this turd won’t cover production and not come anywhere near marketing.
Critical Drinker himself churns out the same tired review and opinion about everything.
His schtick (as formulaic and repetitive of most of the movies he reviews) sadly works for 95% of the Hollywood products (which are, indeed, garbage), but it’s clear at this point, he isn’t actually reviewing movies, just spewing an agenda.
That’s as stupid as Hollywood, just in a different way.
