Trying to Think Wise Thoughts after DSA Tuesday

Our liberal friends believe they are the wave of the future. In fact, of course, they have been resisting the future since the day after they got rid of the absolute monarchs.

What are we to do about college kiddies like DSA shining star Darializa Avila Chevalier, a PhD student in sociology at the City University of New York, fighting on the front lines of Mayor Mamdani’s war on America?

My advice, produced on my blog nine years ago, is: Nothing.

We know, with the advent of artificial intelligence, that the world is going to change more than we can possibly imagine.

Goodness! Did I know that, nine years ago? I should become a prophet!

I went on to say that the university has always been a project of the ruling class:

- In Britland, to educate the second sons of the nobility for the church

- In Prussia, to make Germany strong enough to beat the French

- In the U.S., Protestant churches building universities to read A Scarlet Letter.

- In the U.S., progressives determined to “raise up good little progressives and leftist activists.”

But why are young educated women like Chevalier all raving lefty lunatics? It is simple, and I wrote about this back in 2020 in a discussion of women and education. Why was climate activist Greta Thunberg depressed, I asked? Because she had been carefully taught to fear climate change. Said I:

I find that women are much more likely to believe what they have been carefully taught and that men are much more likely to resist being carefully taught.

That is why David Copperfield had to be sent to Mr. Creakle’s infamous school in England. He resisted too much.

To fools like this author, I highly recommend reading “A Man in his Time: The Memoirs of Serge Obelensky,” written by a man born into Russian nobility, who survived the 1917 revolution and emigrated to the United States.

The Russian elites and governing class ignored and trivialized the Bolshevik upstarts, believing they would be destroyed by their own incompetency and irrelevance. The authorities declined several easy opportunities to disband and destroy the communist movement, believing it to be no threat to the historical power structure.

As the monarch was beginning to yield to a parliamentary government, the Bolsheviks never gave them the chance. The Red groundswell spread with alarming rapidity, and a command structure in every small borough was soon installed. Freedom disappeared and the repression of communism smothered any dissent.

Obviously, the rest is history. I am not a fan of Czarist Russia, but no one should trivialize or ignore the threat of communism, especially when our educational system had raised generations of fools prepared to subject themselves to it.

Recall the admonition of Santayana.

These clowns are no different than the commies who used the anti war groups s of the 60s for their purpose of driving the US left. Took a decade to rid the Congress of some of them. But like roaches, they come back.
