Authorities called to investigate illegal dumping in Palmdale this week instead stumbled on a clandestine drug lab and 800 pounds of methamphetamine stashed in storage containers, officials said Friday.
Code enforcement officers in the High Desert suburb located 36 miles north of LA made the shocking find on Thursday when they visited a vacant lot after receiving reports of illegal dumping there, according to a Palmdale news release.
The stunned code enforcement officers immediately alerted police, who descended on grimy white storage containers packed with massive crystal-like chunks of pure gak spread across a blue tarp.
Other massive chunks of bathtub speed were found drying on mesh racks, while kitchen storage bags loaded with crunchy, white powder were also found packed for sale.
Palmdale Mayor Eric Ohlsen said the discovery was one of the most significant drug busts ever made in the Antelope Valley city of approximately 162,500 residents.
“This case is a powerful example of the important work our code enforcement team does every day to protect Palmdale neighborhoods,” said Ohlsen in a statement.
“What started as an illegal dumping investigation led to the removal of a massive amount of dangerous drugs from our community,” he added.
In addition to hundreds of pounds of methamphetamine, like a scene out of “Breaking Bad,” cops also found materials used in multiple stages of the drug’s manufacturing, officials said.

“after receiving reports of illegal dumping”
This is more than likely a case of “eliminating the competition”.
I’m actually watching Breaking Bad again now on Netflix! And slightly off topic, watching again I’m reminded that I think Saul Goodman’s acting was much better/calmer than his solo series Better Call Saul... He way over acted on his own. just sayin...
Breaking Bad is one of those series I watched but never plan to again. Son’s of Anarchy either.
Better Call Saul however, I might.
I’d have to FF through the drinking urine in the desert scenes though....yeesh. 🤮
“I’m actually watching Breaking Bad again now on Netflix! “
Yeah I binged through that series several times. It’s that good. BCS is good as well. Great characters/actors + great writing.
Better Call Saul was good right up to the very end when they had to end it with Saul Goodman moralizing and accepting responsibility for his actions - which was completely out of character for him.
“Better Call Saul was good right up to the very end when they had to end it “
Yeah I never liked the ending.
“crunchy, white powder” - how is powder crunchy?
“pure gak” - wha?
“bathtub speed” - haven’t heard that term in decades
Lancaster may get a big boom in its existing meth market.
Its empty refrigerator food.
Interesting. Never heard that.
Currently you add some whey protein powder and and chocolate chips and it would be protein balls or keto energy balls or something. :)

Made by a pretty lady with Chocolate Chips and Honey it looks a lot better than I recall!

LOL - you're right on this...
According to an automated computer search engine (ACSE) “gak” could be narco slang for cocaine or methamphetamine.
The wheels of justice roll so slowly that the evildoers are nimble enough to find new ways to do wrong that are not yet even perceived or suspected to be wrong.
when we were poor it was tea and bread crumbs.
A pretty spare menu!
