Elect this man to lead something.
LISTEN: Jacob Rockwell was fined for running a red light in Pensacola, Florida.
Only thing is Jacob wasnβt in Florida, he was in Alabama.
He sounded off at a local city meeting recently and his concerns go beyond just one citation. pic.twitter.com/kXSlzaLCLIβ The Facts Dude π€π½ (@Thefactsdude) June 22, 2026
That's Pensacola resident Jacob Rockwell.
He was out of town in March and someone else was borrowing his vehicle. Rockwell doesn't dispute that this other individual ran the red light.
His problem is the seemingly-insane bureaucratic process to try and prove that he wasn't the one driving.
These things have been deemed unconstitutional for this reason: because the enforcement action of 316.083 unduly shifts the burden of proof to the vehicle owner, me, to prove my innocence, rather than the State having to prove my guilt.
Currently, I am guilty by default. I've been convicted by a computer program.
Usually, this whole mess of who committed by a police officer pulling somebody over and actually witnessing them in the driver's seat. The AI camera doesn't do any camera verification whatsoever.
To get your constitutionally mandated due process, you have to jump through hoops put up by Automated Enforcement Division, a private company in Orlando that's owned by another corporation called Novoa Global, which is owned by a Chilean-Swedish millionaire named Carlos Hoffstead.
...
If you wanna fight this think because you were wrongly accused - me again - you can't just request a hearing through [Pensacola] PD or the courthouse.
Officer Mike Wood of the Pensacola Police Department says the system isn't that bad - that you just fill out an affidavit with your info and the name of the other driver as part of that process.
Officer Wood did not, however, explain why American citizens should bear the burden of proof with a mountain of paperwork, or what you would do if an unknown thief had stolen your vehicle and proceeded to rack up numerous traffic fines.
Watch more about Rockwell's case here:

This Big Brother surveillance is un-American. It's China-esque, and none of the voters asked for this.
Officer Wood says its about saving lives and "to get people to conform," which, you know, is also what China says about their mass surveillance programs.
As you ponder that balance between public safety and natural rights, I feel it necessary to summon THE CLIP as food for thought:

“...thereβs just a monetary fine.”
That’s all they want...................

The Constitution grants citizens the right to face their accusers in courts of law. These cities believe that they can circumvent this provision by claiming that these traffic cam crimes are civil crimes (with criminal penalties).
His car was trespassing. Yeah, that’s it.
These things are revenue generators, nothing more.
The city or county doesn’t actually own the equipment. They are supplied the cameras and imaging software by the company that makes them. The fines are split with the company, probably 60/40, I don’t know. But every little town around either has them or is getting them. They make money for them to spend like crazy!..........
there may have been no points, but that is not the point.
He heard a giant sucking sound of the state trying to pull all the cash out of his wallet.
my local jurisdiction does not accept the excuse that someone else was driving, the judges in their kangaroo court are fascists.

Oh it’s only a few cities in China
At this particular moment in time...
AI Overview: (Irony is Ironic, eh?)
Cities in China, such as Shenzhen, Jinan, and Shanghai, utilize AI-powered Facial Recognition Cameras and Digital Payment Systems to Identify Jaywalkers. Instead of automatic bank account deductions, offenders are IMMEDIATELY sent Traffic Fines Via Instant Messaging Apps (like WeChat), short message service (SMS), or by being Publicly Shamed on Roadside LED Displays.
We had ‘em here but the city didn’t renew the contract.
A rare wise decision from the morons that run this county.
That's propaganda, it's a lie.

It's about profits for Novoa Global and income to the city. Conforming to the law is a side effect (maybe). The city doesn't own or operate the cameras. The company gets most of the money.
These camera schemes have already been deemed unconstitutional several because the accused can't confront their accuser.
My neighbor once paid a traffic light camera ticket by sending in a picture of a hundred dollar bill. The DMV sent him back a picture of handcuffs.
As long as the ticket doesn't go on his record, I'd say he go get the money from his buddy.
Sure, the owner can then submit a bill to Pensacola for his time doing the job of a police officer.
I saw that video. That was a pretty brutal takedown of that city council. We need more people like him to stand up for our rights.
I always thought the state/law enforcement/whatever had to prove you guilty rather than you proving your innocence. Guess that’s one of the problems with a traffic camera. I’ve heard about this problem too many times now. Happened to a friend of mine. He was home in Nebr. & a traffic camera in Washington supposedly caught him in a violation. That’s REALLY screwed up, but he finally came out of it.
In NY, a traffic cam ticket is mailed to the owner of the car, it doesn’t matter that they weren’t driving, the car was caught. Now, maybe in FL not being the driver is a defense. That said, I am against these cameras- they are a money maker and cause accidents. Just yesterday at a traffic cam intersection, I saw a car stop early for a yellow and the car behind hit him....
Certain county judges have declared them to be unconstitutional. One of them was Broward County, a very liberal BLUE county, which was a surprise. Judge’s relative must have gotten a ticket or he did!.............
Well, he may still be guilty, but he is correct that due process is missing in these tickets, especially if they cannot prove that he was behind the heel. Furthermore, his argument about not accepting cash is also a valid argument. They had better go back to the drawoing board to eliminate these issues which are illegal.
Unless the car is a rental I guess. If it is, the company bills the driver?
Yes, if it’s a rental car, the ticket goes to the company, who then charges the person who rented the car- like if the car is returned damaged. It’s in (or should be) the rental agreement.
